Directional sound works in subtle ways

The directional sound from Atmos works subtly, but is cool. I've noticed it more in horizontal situations and in video games, such as Red Dead Redemption 2. Rain can be heard overhead (the only vertical sound I've noticed) and if something is happening to the left or right, it definitely sounds like it.
Once or twice, I wondered "that's weird, where is that sound coming from." Then I realized it was the sound bar projecting it.
My complaints about this sound bar aren't really technical. I believe it's a fine system, which I purchased as a bundle with the LG C8 TV.
My thing is, I believe the sound on the TV is rich enough to get the job done. I live in an apartment and keep my TV or sound bar volume between 8-12.
My recommendation is yes, but it's conditional on remaining in the same ecosystem (an LG TV) and if you like to pump up the sound.

Excellent, sound bar unnecessary

Absolutely content and happy with this television, which I waited to purchase until on sale at a decent price. While I don't regret buying an LG SK10Y sound bar in a bundle, I must say the TV speakers are great. If you don't already have a sound bar, I don't think you're missing much.
As for the picture, usage and burn-in concerns: I have not had ANY issue. I also am also the only person using the television and don't keep it on all day. My usage is about 40 percent movies, 30 percent video games and 30 percent TV, such as sports on ESPN. I'd say I average five to six hours with the TV on per day, keep the OLED light between 27 and 50, depending on the mode.
If you're single, I highly recommend this television. The pixel-level light detail, upscaling in many respects (HBO Go looks 4K), Dolby Vision HDR and dark scene detail is beautiful.
If you have kids, I'd consider an LED/LCD for brightness cartoons and likely static images.
Know your usage, check out YouTube video reviewers (listening to what they say more than what you see on a compressed screen) and go check out the TVs yourself. Do that, and you'll be happy with your TV, too.

Loved my last pair

Just got these. I loved my last pair. As a note, it's troublesome on this version to figure out the power on your phone. A Google search has the answer. That missing from the top of my phone and the missing flap to protect the power plug are my only gripes. Also wanted to comment on the excellent customer service in price matching this.

From time to time, the sound gets jumbled. The soundbar says it's switching from Dolby Digital or whatever to standard. It's quite annoying and I must change the channel to reset it.

Failed promises

Dear Sony rep,
How about your employer actually put out a firmware update that addresses this issue? I've had this device for two years and it still cuts out when I change the channel because it's detecting the format. It's obviously a defect in the product! Troubleshooting is no help. A simple Google search of this product brings up countless users having the same problem.
