If you have not watched any Mel Brooks films, this is a good introduction. It's a silly satire that is funny and very entertaining. Mel Brooks, Madeleine Kahn, Harvey Korman, and Cloris Leachman show us who the true icons of comedy are. I never get tired of watching this film. This film is a classic and should be in any comedy collection.

Contemporary Life in Oakland

Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal have hit a home run with this film on a shoestring budget. They also star in the film. Though it is a comedy, it's a drama in disguise. This film should also be part of any black history collection. For anyone familiar with Oakland, CA, you will recognize some of the unique aspects of that city and yet, it has the air of many urban environments. A film that can be viewed many, many times.

It's entertaining & funny while at the same time refusing to let us turn away from racism and black oppression. John David Washington gave a stellar performance.
