Adapter not as advertised

This was not a true DVI-I adapter and had to be returned. There are actually five different types of DVI connectors:
DVI-I (an integrated connector that can carry both digital and analog signals through the same connector; the digital connector part can be either a single or a dual link, so this actually represents two types of connectors);
DVI-D (digital only, also available as either a single link or a dual link); and
DVI-A (analog only).
Make sure you know which one is best for your use, and don't take anyone's word for what you are really being sold--Google "DVI connector types" or see Wikipedia on DVI (picture attached to this review) so you can see what each type's pin-configuration looks like. If the store sells you the wrong one and doesn't want to take it back, using the phrase "false advertising" can be helpful.
