When I first saw this Bruce Campbell was already a horror movie god thanks to the Evil Dead movies, so I was a little bored and disappointed. But what it lacks in frenetic energy and "splatstick" humor, it makes up for in heart, earnest performances, and a touching story. Don't give up on it. It becomes a classic upon a second watch.
