An interesting add to the collection

I had bought a low-end Garmin watch to map swims at the beach. It works, but figuring out which buttons to push took considerable effort, and is still a nuisance. Apple Watch's ability to provide health warnings make it a logical purchase for older people who may be prone to falls and strokes. And its GPS tracking is easier to use. I've used it on and off, not liking its occasional notifications (need to turn off the New York Times). Also not quite liking using it while pruning shrubs or other outdoor activities that could possibly scratch the glass.
But the 8 comes across as quite good, and I'm happy to have gotten the 45 mm size. I don't have large hands, but it is comfortably lightweight. The standard rubbery band seems very secure (no pins to break) but takes a bit of practice to get on and off easily.

Somewhat of a revolution

The green-wire lights are considerable fun, especially the mapping function using a cell phone with app. I went on to also try the 400 light transparent wire dots with closer spacing, which I think have a bit more potential for concentrated, if somewhat smaller-area shows.
The programming options with the Residential series of Twinkly lights are limited; I assume that the considerably more expensive PRO models with more elaborate controllers will have broader options.
The Twinkly residential lights seem marvels at providing some impressive animated effects that until now have required rather expensive controllers, lights, and some effort at programming (or purchasing ready-made sequences). I'm not aware that there's anything else on the market resembling Twinkly's light mapping.

Used outdoors for a holiday light show

An outdoor holiday show at a small Florida botanical garden used computer-controlled equipment (two dozen control boxes, about 180 lights) connected by a few radio links and many cat-5 cables (various brands). There were no failures despite considerable rain during the month of operation. The most critical such link was a long one from the laptop to the first controller, handled by a new Insignia cable. It was very convenient to find a 150 foot cable on short notice when, for reasons still unknown, radio wouldn't work.

I needed a 49 or 50 inch screen, nothing larger, which limited options. Reviews and local store staff indicated that the UM8000 and its newer UN equivalent had very good image quality, so it was an easy choice. Installed, it obviously has darker blacks than the less expensive 44" 4K TV it replaced, an easier-to-use menu, very easy wifi connection, and it's really nice for displaying photos. It's working very well as part of a home theater system that would work well with a considerably larger screen. Its own sound is quite good. And it looks good in a relatively formal living room. Pull the chairs up and listen to the center speaker above the screen.

Probably easiest to use with 16 awg speaker wire; 14 awg wire requires a bit harder twisting. The banana plugs are nearly essential for the crowded backsides of receivers, as well as convenient for speakers, making it easy to disconnect and re-connect.
These banana clips are well made and elegant.

Effective way to connect satellite speakers

With proliferating means of connecting remote speakers (and proliferating speakers that come with wireless connections), this item may be a bit retro, but it was perfect for adapting an existing pair of quality speakers for duty as satellites on the back side of the living room, without hiding speaker wire. The transmitter was placed atop a tall cabinet, the receiver atop one of the speakers. Nice and simple.
The two outgoing speaker wires go from receiver to transmitter, and the the receiver has matching outputs. The system only provides for two different speakers (and can presumably power only two. Output is given as "5 volts"). A subwoofer could be connected, but for most users, better wireless connectors are available using RCA cables. My system uses such a transmitter for a remote subwoofer; its transmitter was placed 8 feet from the Rocketfish transmitter, and they do not interfere with each other.
Sound quality for the speakers seems excellent.
