JAWS 3-MOVIE COLLECTION is actually four movies, but of course, minus Spielberg's JAWS masterpiece. Jaws 2 and 3 are nothing near as gripping as the original, and if you own a 3-D video player and television, Jaws 3-D, fills the bill. It's actually Jaws 3 with a few edits.
Of the collection, it's fun to watch with its 3D effects, but little else. The final Jaws film is the best of this so-so collection. Unless you a truly a JAWS FANATIC, event at the modest price of the set, it lacks the excitement of the original. Enjoy what you have, if purchased, but you are missing a lot.
I'm sure Mr. Spielberg was justified in not directing a sequel. The original feature told it all!!!

What's not to love? Agatha Christie's enduring who-done-it, DEATH ON THE NILE, featuring the ever perfect detective, Hercule Poirot, portrayed with exacting clarity by Peter Ustinov, and a great cast of actors, and the superlative Dame Maggie Smith.
Death on the Nile ranks among the most popular Christie novels, along with Murder on the Orient Express and And Then There Were None.
Beautifully filmed, it is a delight to watch the events and try to solve the crime, before the finale, when Poirot details all in exactness.
Come on board and delight in another mysterious murder peopled with numerous suspects, all of course suspect, but under the clever eye of the world's greatest detective.

Central to this delightful fairy tail is an elderly man with a wandering memory who speaks to his imaginary friend, an angel in a big Mexican hat.
All's well that ends well in this wonderful fairy tale film with a simple music score you'll long remember.

A summit meeting of great Italian directors of the era, Boccaccio '70 is an antipasto platter of vintage S*x symbols and naughty material starring Sophia Loren (Yesterday Today & Tomorrow), Anita Ekberg (La Dolce Vita) & Romy Schneider (The Trial). Cooked up and bankrolled by Carlo Ponti and American producer Joseph E. Levine, the four-part film was meant to tap the international smash of Fellini's La Dolce Vita, which gave audiences some refreshingly, you know, InchmatureInch subject matter. Four directors were hired to create segments ostensibly based on the tales of Boccaccio Federico Fellini (in the lull between La Dolce Vita and 8-1/2), Luchino Visconti, Vittorio de Sica, and Mario Monticello. 1962 - Color - 205 minutes - 1.66 1 - Italian with English Subtitles.

Boccaccio '70 Delights!!!

I have loved Boccaccio '70 from the very first time I saw the film in the theater. Then it was only three films, not four. The additional fourth film, the first shown on this DVD is forgettable.
Now in Blu-ray, the films are clearly superior visually and the sound is perfect.
Not to spoil the storylines of the three mini-films, my favorite featured Anita Ekberg, who is an erotic image on a giant billboard in a enticing pose, drinking a glass of milk. Her image is abhorred by a very prudish older man who is a religious zealot. When she becomes real in his mind as a huge female and steps off the billboard to torment him, the movie becomes a comedy of laughs.
Sophia Loren as carnival barker and lottery prize for a multitude of dirty old men is another comedy of sexual mayhem gone bawdy but again without being offensive. Loren is magnificent in her bawdy portrayal as an enticing lotter prize.
Romy Schneider is a wealthy socialite, rich and without any employable experience, decides to join the working class, and her first client is her spoiled husband who must pay her to bed her, since she has endured his many affairs. What else is she experienced in anyway, but her band must now pay for services rendered.
Directed by Federico Fellini, Vittorio De Sica and Luchino Visconti, this landmark anthology film is a showcase of glamour, sophistication, wit and sensuality, modeled on Boccaccio's Decameron These comic moral tales are an expose' about the hypocrisies surrounding sex in 1960's Italy.

Probably one of the greatest if not the best television science fiction drama of all time, even, in my opinion, surpassing Star Trek, it is fitting justification that this television series is preserved in Blu-ray.
I have much to say about this series, even though I may not be the most passionate science fiction space buff. I find watching the episodes of this striking classic excellent adult entertainment. It is always bold in nature, interesting in story content and always, in specific episodes, sexually adult without being cheap and tawdry.
The principal characters are all defined and professionally presented in the fine acting of those who graced this epic series throughout.
I am thrilled that BATTLESTAR GALACTICA is preserved in this compact set of 26 DVDs. Even if you may not find a science fiction space series to your taste, you would appreciate that it is also a fine example of series adult drama, which my be just what you might appreciate.

WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION, a classic successful play by Agatha Christie, is a masterpiece adaptation directed by Billy Wilder. The performances by Charles Laughton, Marlene Deitrich, Tyrone Power and Elsa Lancaster are remarkable, with Laughton turning in one of his greatest screen roles, more than matching his Oscar-winning role The Private Life of Luis VIII.
Laughton's witty stinging dialogue throughout the film is in my estimation makes his acting turn one of the finest in movie history.
The film's plot is a string of mysterious clues throughout, but it isn't until the last ten minutes of this who-done-it that the surprise climax will baffle every viewer. Nothing matches this movie climax....nothing ever!!!!
Expanded upon by Billy Wilder from Agatha Christie's droll dialogue in the play, this movie version enhances the overall delightful turns throughout.
This is a perfect film in all regards. It's my opinion, and I have seen many films to warrant my saying so.

The fully restored version of the nearly 87-year old horror dandy in its original 2-color, Technicolor predecessor, is a stunning gem!
Yes, it is rather trite and nowhere near the 3D Technicolor classic, House of Wax, starring Vincent Price, in not as trite. Much thanks to the George Lucas Foundation for restoring this film and preserving it in Blu-ray to be enjoyed by movie buffs for a long long time.
Fay Wray, known more so for her role in the original KING KONG, is the innocent almost-victim look-a-like to a waxen masterpiece of Marie Antoinette; however, the extra segment hosted by Fay's daughter, is a delightful addition to be enjoyed.
THE MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM may not be fodder for every film buff, but the masterful restoration of this classic is nonetheless of historic motion picture history.

This film adaptation of Agatha Christie's who-done-it, AND THEN THERE WERE NONE, is a disappointment.
Although performed well enough by a cadre of fine actors, the adaptation seemed muddled, and once resolved in the end, seemed dull and mundane.
I may have been spoiled by seeing the BBC miniseries adaptation, which was far more depicted and interesting. I'm certain Agatha Christie would agree with me that TEN LITTLE INDIANS needed more UMPHF!!!

FAR & AWAY Stays Strong and Entertaining

Ron Howard's action-packed Far & Away stars the Young Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, earlier in tgheir careers, yet, let their ages tarnish any brilliance in their acting and performances, whic h are nonetheless strong and professional, as are both these screen celebrities.
There is much to admire in Ron Howard's visioinary concept of the story, it's passion and sense of emotional Irish history regarding the plight of the ppor farmers and the way theyt were always so miserably treated by the wealthy landowners.
The main character's hope and drive to own land of his own, and the daughter of a wealthy landowner who struggles with him and her own struggle to free herself from her famnily's dominance, are portrayed with heart, emotion and passion by Cruise and Kidman.
The strpry is non-stop action and is a joyous ride to a great finale.
