Without question, William Wyler directed an awesome masterpiece adaptation of one of Broadway's most enduring dramas, and Olivia De Havilland's stellar performance only confirms that she is one of cinema's greatest actresses. Montgomery Clift is charming as the greedy fortune hunter, but finds in the end that his charm doesn't mask his greed. As the father, Ralph Richardson is calmly cool but supremely the selfish hurtful parent. Criterion continues to release great cinema, and The Heiress belongs in every film collection.

Powerful performances and a face-to-face look at social squalor makes this classic film reality all over again.

Paris Je T'Aime was a romantic hit, but even though Berlin isn't Paris, it's people still fall in love. I enjoyed this film for it's interesting stories of love. This viewer has seen all versions of A STAR IS BORN, and although this version is almost a mirror reflection of the Judy Garland remake, it doesn't quite fill the bill. All versions of this film have their moments, but the Garland-Mason musical remake still makes me want to see it again over and over. I personally feel it was Judy's shining moment on screen, although she never disappointed.

These hand colored film masterpieces of a bygone era are so incredible one's breath is taken away. By today's film standards, these pieces of movie magic are rather elementary, but for the times their reigned, they were totally awesome to the movie goer. All I can say is buy these films and wonder at their simplicity and adventure. There is nothing else like them. They bring out the child in you again.
