Nice unobtrusive add-on storage

This is great for the small laptops that have only a small amount of eMMC storage on board. I leave the drive inserted permanently into one of mine.
A micro SD card would serve the same purpose, but this drive allows me to keep my card slot free (I always have a free USB port) and easily transfer files to my desktop computer that has no card slot if need be.
The only downside is the all-plastic casing that would have questionable durability with frequent insertion and removal. It doesn't really matter for my purposes.
Overall the drive gets the job done with minimal hassle and streamline design - all for a good price.

I needed more storage space to be able to transfer files from phone or camera (using either a cable or micro SD) to my 11" laptop (eMMC storage) and then periodically transfer or copy THOSE files to a different computer. This drive fits the bill with plenty of space, speed, and low-profile design that allows me to leave it plugged in to the 11" laptop most of the time. The price was good, too. I am satisfied.

Great for travel

I often use Chromebooks while traveling and at home, and they are great for simple browsing but lack software I sometimes need while traveling - particularly any ability to play .MTS (AVCHD) videos recorded on a HD camcorder. Windows has that functionality built in, and the one-year subscription to Office 365 was a nice touch, giving me enhanced functionality to view and edit e-mail and documents for work occasionally (I use a more traditional laptop for straight work travel, however).
Software functionality and Windows versatility, combined with compactness, apparent durability, respectable RAM and file storage capacity, and finally Deal of the Day price - made this an ideal buy for my purposes.
Another minor nice touch for me is the electrical plug/adapter. At first I wasn't thrilled about the old-fashioned large brick that plugs directly into the outlet, but after some time I think it is the lesser of two evils because it eliminates the annoyance of having two cords with a brick in between.
The one minor downside is that the screen seems pixelated in kind of an odd way - like there is a clearly discernible grid pattern all the time. I am well aware of differences in resolution vs screen size, etc., but I have not noticed this effect on any other LCD screen including higher-end 720/768p laptops and TVs. Maybe it's just me, but worth mentioning.
Overall, though, I certainly recommend this, especially if you get a good sale price.

Does what I need and more

For my purposes, including fairly amateurish editing of AVCHD files and conversion of various video file formats, this has worked great so far. I did have some trouble capturing AVI from MiniDV via Firewire, but that may be a hardware issue. I am using a 3rd gen Core i3 processor with slower clock speed than system requirements indicate, (and MB memory). Other than the capture issue this hardware has been generally adequate - just slight lags now and then, not unexpected.
I have used transitions, vocal track, animated title cards, etc with no problems, along with dozens of video/audio clips in the same project. There are several other features I haven't used yet, such as multi-camera editing.
If you have similar needs to me and can get a good deal (I paid $30 on Deal of the Day), I highly recommend this. You will, however, be subjected to a recurring nag screen suggesting upgrade to VS Ultimate 2019. I don't need it!
I am awarding five stars for value and useability with the caveat that although I haven't used some features yet, this deserves more than four.

For a Deal of the Day price, I am surprised at the high quality of this camera. It is built sturdily and takes decent quality video. Resolution and sound are much better than another low-end dash cam I purchased. The only downsides are 1) limited options for video settings, and 2) the edges of the frame in videos have kind of a jerking motion as the landscape flies by, instead of being a smooth-flowing progression. This isn't really distracting, especially if you're looking at the center of the frame. Small price to pay and really only an issue if you're taking video for aesthetic purposes - this would have no practical effect for purposes of documentation of potential accidents and traffic stops, etc.

Great Reception, Convenient Design

I don't have a lot to compare this to for reception, as I have mainly used rabbit ears in the past, but it picks up all of the channels I would expect, and the design works out great for my purpose. I am using it in a travel trailer, and it tucks away flat inside netting attached to a wall. The signal seems to be affected less by movement inside the trailer than rabbit ears were, so this one may be less "directional." Overall it is ideal for a setting where you need an unobtrusive and easy-to-conceal, but still effective, antenna.

Fine for low-volume music or spoken word

This is a nice companion to have a few feet away on your desk or table. It's really best suited to something like a spoken podcast (talk shows and such) but will do okay with music if you're not playing it loudly. As many other reviews mention, it has a pretty low threshold for distortion volume.
Don't expect a miracle for the price, which for most will be heavily discounted from the "regular" price.
