American car designer Carroll Shelby and driver Ken Miles battle corporate interference, the laws of physics and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary race car for Ford and challenge Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966.

Reference Quality!

The movie itself is great but it’s a standout as far as picture and audio quality!
Ford v Ferrari is now my go-to Atmos demo at home when showing off to first timers. The audio during any sort of race really gets the blood pumping.

One of the best 4k transfers
on June 14, 2020

Verified Purchase:Yes
This is about as perfect of a 4k transfer as can be imagined. Keep in mind that this movie is decades old and will have film grain and other quirks of true film. That said, there are details that are beautiful and previously unseen in versions of 2001 on other media. Audio is decent — not Atmos — but great otherwise!

Mediocre HDR

While I enjoyed the story very much I cannot say the same for the audio or color grading.
On a calibrated Dolby Vision tv space is a grey as opposed to black. The newer versions of this movie are only in HDR10 — I’ve not been able to see if the poorly color graded transfer has been rectified.
The audio needs to be boosted by a few dB to match your normal home theater levels.

Safeguard your home with this Arlo security camera system. Its 4K resolution provides maximum clarity so you don't miss a single detail, and a siren is integrated so you can fend off intruders either remotely or while at home. This Arlo security camera system is weather-resistant, so it's functional rain or shine.

Very capable camera system
on June 7, 2019
Posted by: Josh71
from Ventura, CA
Setup:
Setup was very simple and involved the following steps:
1) Download Arlo app to your mobile device
2) Select your device (in this case the 4k Arlo Ultra camera)
3) Plug in the base station
4) Name the base station
5) Automatically update the firmware
6) Prep camera (which involves inserting the battery)
7) Install camera
8) Setup preferences
All in all it was a very simple process to get everything going and took about 15 minutes. The order of operations is important due to the mostly automated process – pay attention! I had to restart the setup process once because I got ahead of myself.
Some concerns I had and others may also have are that the base station does not blend in well to where I have it plugged into my router. All my AV/ tech is black as is the entertainment center it’s all sitting on and the white base station sticks our noticeably. Another possible concern is that the camera itself is only held onto the base by a magnet. While I am not scared of the camera falling off and getting damaged (it feels like there’s a rare earth magnet utilized), I am concerned that it can be stolen by more brazen criminals if installed outdoors in an easily accessible area.
Features
Some callout features that everyone will have:
1) 4k HDR
2) Enhanced Night Vision
3) Integrated Spotlight
4) 180* View
5) Noise Cancellation
This camera has GREAT image quality and can handle drastic high contrast scenarios due to the HDR. The only time the image really gets washed out is around sunset when the sun shines directly onto the blinds on our patio door and floods the entire room with light.
Night vision has been a treat! The camera has had no issues resolving images in the dark from a range of about 30 feet – the maximum distance from the camera in the room it’s currently installed in. I can very clearly tell who or what is at that range.
The spotlight feature is great. While the camera very obviously doesn’t need it due to the night vision, it’s a great deterrent because it lets an unexpected visitor know that they’ve been noticed by shining a decently bright light at them. Because our camera is indoors, it’s mostly ended up being a very advanced nightlight when we cut through the living room to raid the fridge in the middle of the night. However, it’s comforting to know that it’s there when we’re away during the evening.
There’s a small issue that I get periodically, and it involves the integrated spotlight. My camera is installed in a corner and every once in awhile the spotlight catches the two walls and blows out the image and I can’t see anything. I’m pretty sure it’s a bug as cutting the feed and restarting it brings it back. Hopefully, a firmware update will fix it.
Truth be told I’ve not been in a scenario to have to utilize the noise cancelling as there isn’t any wind in our living room but it’s nice to know that it’s there.
Some other miscellaneous features are a siren, two way audio, and local recording via the base station. All work well.
Features with Arlo Premiere
1) AI Detection
2) Custom Activity Zones
3) Lock Screen Notifications
4) E911
AI object detection works pretty well with people. The camera will automatically zoom in and track on movement that it determines to be a person. It’s also supposed to detect pets, vehicles, and packages. Our camera could not detect our cat whenever she was on screen – I’m not sure if it was due to the positioning of our camera, size of our cat, or both. I did not have an opportunity to test the vehicle or package detection. But you can see how those could prove to be useful.
I’ve not had the opportunity to test custom activity zones but this lets the user set specific zones within the camera’s field of view to send alerts when it detects activity and ignore anything else outside of that zone.
Lock screen notifications work very well! It’s never failed to let me know that there’s movement on the camera.
E911 allows the system to be integrated to the 911 network in your local area in case of emergency. Say you get a notification on your phone while you’re on vacation and you see an intruder in your home. This feature allows you to call 911 from your home instead of the 911 network where your phone happens to be. You can also call a friend if it’s not an emergency that necessitates calling the authorities.
Performance
Performance was great in that using the camera system was not noticeable. It integrated into our lives very easily. Image and sound quality were great while streaming live and off recordings. The only noticeable issue was the lag. It takes a second or two for the stream to kick in when tapping into the camera and noticeable latency (1-3 seconds) between actions happening live and when they appear on the stream. I’m not sure if this is a function of our home internet speeds or our older router (120 down/ 12 up; Netgear R7000) but it wasn’t that big of a deal.
Conclusion
This is a great system! The price, while expensive, is comparable to the other brands available (Nest, Ring, etc.) It’s easy to setup, very capable, and easily accessible to even the most novice user. There are some minor bugs and concerns but they are easily overlooked when evaluating the entire system.
Note: Arlo provided me with this product free of charge but the content and my opinions expressed here are honest and based on my use of the product
