A Great Phone if you want One of the Best

Let's face one fact: This phone is a brick. To expect anything else is to ignore physics. This Fold4 is like you're holding two phones. It weighs twice as much and twice as thick you're regular phone.
With the Fold4, you are holding the leading edge of cell phones at this time. Enjoy this, because it will not be true next year.
I held off on the Fold line of phones before because I was concerned with the large screen cracking at the fold. With the Four I felt that Samsung had made significant improvement on this problem.
My previous phones over the last 10 years were all Notes. To be honest, I was seriously thinking about about the S22 Ultra since that is the successor to the Note line. If it weren't for a promotion from Best Buy and a nice trade-in price for my Note, I would probably have waited for the S23 Ultra to be released.
After running the numbers, I decided that it was time to go with the Fold4. After a month with the phone, I have a few observations.
It took me a while to get used to unfolding my phone. Truth is, I'm still adjusting. But each day I'm learning new tricks and features.
When I open up the main screen, I almost feel like I'm holding my own personal IMAX. there is so much wonderful screen real estate to take in. And as a full fledged senior citizen, I don't need to constantly keep a pair of reading glasses at the ready.
I was a little concerned about the fingerprint reader. With moved from the screen to the side key, I was worried I'd have to move my thumb into different positions in hopes of unlocking my phone. I'm happy to say that I have never had any problem unlocking the phone on the first try, something I can't say about my former Note.
I'm a fan of the icons of the recent apps at the bottom of the screen. Instead of having to hit the recent apps icon to gain access. Plus, this makes it much easier to bring an app back in split screen.
The speed of the processor is a marked improvement from my last phone. And the responsiveness is second to none.
Something to consider, though. A folding screen requires a little more care in handling than the others. Sand and other fine particles can find their way under the screen, Keep this in mind when you're at the beach and keep the phone tucked away someplace safe.
Speaking of tucking away the phone, this is not the device you put in your back pocket, sitting or falling down, and then expecting it to be like it just came out of the box. But this goes for all cell phones. We've all seen reviewers lament about how they put their phone in their best Hello Kitty case, only to have it break after two days of "normal" use.
I've also found that a few of my live wallpapers don't work on the Fold4. Fortunately, the wallpapers I've used on my phones for years all work fine. So for me, this is not a problem.
Now let's talk about what is missing.
There is no charger included with the phone. Fact is, this is true of so many cell phones these days. And this isn't a problem for me since I exclusively use wireless charging. Plus, like most of us, I've got a drawer full of chargers. Still, for a couple thousand dollars...
And then there's the S pen. I know that the pen is included with the S22 Ultra so we all will know that it is the replacement for the Note line. And I'm guessing that the pen will be an extra accessory come the future S2# Ultra. But, again. For a phone that costs as much as the Fold4...
I would have given the Fold4 a five star rating, but I'll save that for a future Fold when they make it a little more indestructible.

Brighter than I was expecting

I've been using Hue lights for years. An earlier version of this bulb was starting to go bad. I looked hard at the 100w LED bulb, but went with this bulb since it is smaller and would fit inside the globe. I'm glad I did. This bulb is so bright that I rarely have it above 70% illumination.

Classic movie with a stellar cast

When you buy a laptop these days, the hard disks are not usually excessively large. I know we're all supposed to keep all our stuff on the cloud, I'm old school and I want it literally in my hands.
I bought this to supplement the storage on a new laptop. It's great for storing my data files and documents. And the nice thing is that it sticks so little out from the USB slot that you can keep it in and have no problem slipping into a sleeve or case.

If only it was a real story

Like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, this is a version of history that is fictitious but a history you wish was real. That is what makes this story so rewarding.
There are some movies that are worthy of having in your collection so you can watch it when the desire hits you. This is one such movie.

A near perfect replacement

I had an earlier model of a charging stand from Samsung for the pat 4 years. It has been so handy that I think I've only plugged in my phone was for large file transfers.
For whatever reason, a few weeks ago it stopped charging my phone without a lot of effort. Hence, I bought this stand as a replacement. I can tell you that this stand works even better than it predecessor. The few weeks I've had it, the performance has been flawless.
I will say that I had wanted the stand in black, but it was $15 more than the white. However, the table it is on is white and so it blends in perfectly. I only had to find a white USB cable since the one supplied was black.

Great screen but not perfect

After using a pair of HP 25" monitors for years now, I had no hesitation of buying this one. I'd like to make note that this was not a replacement, but an additional monitor for an extra computer.
The setup was simple and the picture serves my needs with ease. If I may be a little nitpicking here, I would like a better cable management. The HDMI and power cables just hang down in plain sight. A cable guide system for the power cord would be an easy fix, along with placing the HDMI input more in the center.
Despite this very minor flaw, this is a great monitor for the price.

Increased the enjoyment of my tea three fold.

Now, I don't drink coffee but I imagine we tea drinkers have the same problem. When we steep our tea, we begin the wait for the beverage to cool down so we can drink it without scalding our mouth.
Once the liquid reaches the right temperature, we begin do sip and enjoy. About 10 minutes later, the tea has cooled and so has our enjoyment. Another 10 minutes and it has cooled to the point where we pretty much stop drinking and pour the remaining tea in the sink.
That has all changed with the Ember mug. When I begin to steep the tea in the mug, I bring up the app on my phone and I can see the current temperature. I won't burn my mouth testing because I know how hot it is.
Personally, my preference is a temp of 145. That's my sweet spot. When I see that it has reached that temperature I can drink it at a leisurely pace.
I just finished off a cup of tea that I began drinking over an hour ago. The entire time, it was there at 145 degrees and tasted great.
Now, the brutal truth: This is an expensive mug. I was fortunate to get it on a daily deal at half price.
I will also admit that the app can be problematic. It has improved, but I've had to re-pair the mug twice. However, the last time was yesterday and this was after my phone updated to a new Android version.
I also tried to update the firmware and the mug kept dropping the connection. But I'll try again later and do some troubleshooting if needed.
I will say that if you are looking at buying a mug, get the new Mug2 since it will be the same price and the battery will last longer.
