A Decent thriller

Lisbeth Salander is a female hacker who goes after sexual predators is hired to steal a program that can hijack nuclear missile control from the NSA. Unfortunately, things get out of control when the program is then stolen from her and she gets help from journalist Mikael Blomkvist to track down the culprits.
Lisbeth Salander is based on a Swedish thriller series which ended when the author Stieg Larsson died unexpectedly at a young age. Unlike other Lisbeth Salander novels, this movie avoids a lot of graphic violence and sexual scenes which was quite excessive.
Still the movie starts off well, but the plot gets a bit too contrived in the end. Still, it may be a worthwhile viewing.

The long awaited conclusion of HBO's knockout series is finally here. While the conclusion is good, it feels like HBO kind of rushed the ending of the series. Everything is happening so quickly and suddenly. To compound matters, characters are dropping like flies in altogether flimsy ways. I think it would have been better if HBO had stretched the ending by a few more episodes but what done is done.

One of the best X570 AMD motherboards out there

With the arrival of the new AMD CPUs comes the new generation of motherboards. The issue with the new CPUs is that some of them draw a lot more power, 105-watts vs 65-watts.
Unfortunately, the higher power draw requires a lot beefier voltage regulator design on the motherboards and many fall far short of meeting the demands, especially ALL of the MSi MPG line of motherboards.
I bought the mid-line MSi X570 Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard with AMD's 105-watt 3900X CPU thinking a mid-line model would have decent VRM design (it's 5+2 phase). I was sadly mistaken as the VRMs on the board would overheat at 100+ degrees C which caused the board to slow down the CPU until the board cools down.
Reviews have shown that all of MSi's MPG boards are abysmal in design and have the same overheating issue. I ended up buying this ASUS board and the difference is astounding. Where the MSi board hit 100+ degrees, the ASUS 14+2 phase VRMs barely registers over 50 degrees. The board is slightly faster than the MSi which means the CPU is a couple of degrees hotter.
The only minor quibbles are that the onboard RGB lights are extremely faint with no way of adjusting the brightness and that inserting memory modules is a tad difficult with the type of slots it uses.
It has only two M.2 SSD slots (some boards have three) but it has eight SATA ports (some only have four).
Overall a great board for the price.

The good this is the series is quite involving with great SFX and good cast. The series depicts the Discovery's officer who is Spock's half-sister who has conflicts about how Starfleet is handling issues.

NOT for 105-watt AMD CPUs...

Avoid this if you are planning to buy this motherboard for any 105-watt AMD CPU (3800x/3900x/3950x). The power supply design cannot supply the current required for these CPUs. The voltage regulators will overheat, hitting 100-120 degrees C. When this happens, the board will throttle the CPU speed down until the VRs cool down. When the VR temps rise again, the process will repeat itself.
MSi really screwed up the board design on ALL of the MPG lineup of X570 motherboards. All of them have terrible VR designs causing the to overheat. I have one and it really sucks. Better boards will only hit temps of 60-70 degrees.
Contacting MSi will get you nowhere. They insist the board is fine but professional online reviews tell you otherwise. I ended up replacing my MSi board at my own expense.

The MSi Gaming Pro Carbon is a nice looking board with great features with one fatal flaw. The board utilizes a 4+2 voltage regulator design which is insufficient for the latest high (95+) wattage AMD Ryzen CPUs. Better boards have as much asa a 14+2 VRM deisgn (such as MSi's top boards). MSi cut corners here and it shows when the board is pushed under load.
When running under load, the voltage regulators will run a steady 95 degrees, extremely high where some other brands run only 65-75 degrees C. If you are using a 65 watt or lower Ryzen CPU, this should not pose a problem.
If you are looking to use a AMD 3900X or any CPU that draws 95 watts or more, I would look elsewhere, especially if you want to overclock the CPU. The motherboard will cause the CPU to thermal throttle, e.g. slow down until the temps go down.

Yes, as long as it is not a laptop... You cannot enter a boot password as the keyboard will not be active until the OS is loaded.

I just hooked up the Sony SS-CS5 to my sony fm stereo fm-am receiver str-de415 and i got audio from my record player - do I still need an amplifier to get better sound?
I don't know if the receiver has a phono input. If it does not (and if the turntable does not have a built-in phono pre-amp), you cannot hear the sound correctly.

I have a sony receiver, can i get atmos sound if i do not have a 4 k tv. Would i be able to rent a movie on vudu and get the atmos sound? With this blu ray I know it has just a audio hook up and a video hook up separate. Could i just hook up the audio?
You will need UHD movies as ATMOS is rarely pressed on Blu-Ray discs. Also, to get ATMOS, you will need a sound system that supports it. The TV has nothing to do with it.
