Great SteelBook for a Great Movie!

Wonder Woman is easily the best of the DCEU movies thus far. This is true even if the final 40 minutes or so become a giant battle that's hard to stomach.
With that in mind, the film has received a nice SteelBook to match. It looks good on a shelf and the art it eyecatching. What else can I say?

Nice and compact

I've owned all of these films individually for quite some time now, and they took up too much space. This solves that problem. Additionally, it includes a new disc of bonus features. The only real issue with that is the fact that the bonus disc is a DVD, not a Blu-ray.
Still, if you're looking to save on shelf space in the realm of the Fast and the Furious franchise, this'll do the job and land you some additional bonus features.

Solid SteelBook

I bought this primarily for the SteelBook. That said, it looks nice. The art is a solid representation of the film's iconic end credits. It looks nice on a shelf as well. I'm happy with the purchase.

It's... Okay

It's not a bad movie, but it's not a great movie. It's kind of difficult to sum up how this movie fails and how it succeeds. I mean, it's beautifully animated. It's likely the best the Pokémon franchise has ever looked. On the other hand, however, the movie kind of plods along and the stakes are never really felt. I mean there are some cool scenes, but it just never really gels. My biggest complaint, though is the fact that the English dub removed all but one piece of the Japanese music. It's disappointing that after all these years, the original music is being replace with a new score. There's no real point. Perhaps if the original score had remained (a score which made use of reorchestrated music from early episodes of the show) this would be a better movie.
As far as the Blu-ray goes, there's one trailer as a bonus feature. The picture quality is fine, but there is some banding present. Still, this is a decent enough looking disc.

Yeaaaahh... I'm Gonna Have to Ask You...

I really don't know what to say about this movie that hasn't already been said. If you've ever had to deal with a monotonous, dreary, soul sucking banal job (or have ever been in high school), there's something here for you.
The actual transfer looks good. The extras are a bit lacking, but I didn't buy this for the extras. I bought it for the film. And frankly, that delivers.

Solid SteelBook
on December 21, 2018

In all honesty, I bought this as a gift, not for myself. Still, I did watch the movie and enjoyed it immensely. Honestly, it made me want to get in touch with my own cultural roots, and how many movies can make people feel that way? Probably not too many.
Honestly, the impetus for purchasing the SteelBook was the fact that the cover art was more appealing that the standard edition's art, and the SteelBook didn't have those annoying Disney Multiscreen logos plastered all over it... unlike the standard edition.
All in all, the film itself is worth it as a film and a work of art. The SteelBook is worth it to not have to see Disney's latest marketing scheme/ugly banner.

The Hunt Is On!

In this second volume of the series, Gon finally makes it to the Hunter exam and.. well, I won't spoil anything. Needless to say, it's entertaining.
Honestly, part of what makes the show so entertaining is the dub. It's solid. Of course, I don't know that there's any need to sell someone on a second volume of a long running shonen series.
I will say this, the picture is good. There's very little banding. I don't notice any heavy compression. It's pretty much on par with most Viz Media releases. The on disc bonuses are clean opening and closing credits, an art gallery, English language credits, and trailers for other Viz titles. Inside, one will find an envelope (much like the one Gon sends a letter to his aunt in) with three postcards. If you enjoyed them in volume 1 and this volume, I'm sorry to say that the postcards end with this volume. On the bright side, Viz has increased the number of episodes per set and the price increase isn't too bad.
Overall, it's a decent release for a solid show. Admittedly, I'd enjoy some more interviews with the English cast like the first volume, but later sets will feature that.

More Fun Than It Has Any Right to Be!
on November 30, 2018

I've been a Batman fan for some time now. In that time, I've seen many incarnation of the character. My preferred Batman is the '90's 'toon, Batman: The Animated Series. That said, Brave and the Bold is an excellent addition to the Dark Knight's legacy. With its bright colors, designs reminiscent of classic DC Comics of the 1950s and 1960s, fantastic voice cast, stellar writing, and phenomenal music, the show was a favorite of mine as it aired. It was a shame to see it go, but it never missed a beat.
So, imagine my surprise when it was announced that an animated film was coming... starring Scooby-Doo! Scooby has never been a favorite of mine. I've enjoyed some parts of the franchise, but I've never, been a big Doo fan. So, I was hesitant about the whole thing.
That said, my fears were laid to rest. The movie is largely from the crew of Batman: The Brave and the Bold. As such, it retains that show's feel. The occasional fourth wall breaking of past Scooby adventures fit with this remarkably well. The movie looks like the show. The cast members who reprised their roles from the show don't miss a beat. Honestly, the movie was better than I had hoped for. It's a welcome addition to the Brave and the Bold series and the Scooby-Doo series.
As for the disc? Well, it could look worse, but it could look better. Warner seems to not really be putting any extra effort into their DVDs anymore. There's noticeable compression on the disc. Darker colors often look heavily compressed and have tons of macroblocking and video noise. So, it might be good that Brave and the Bold has such a bright color palette. Still, it's not as bad looking as the recent DC Universe animated movies. Honestly, it's a shame this isn't on Blu-ray. Perhaps the Warner Archive Collection will tackle it one day.
As for extras? There are two Scooby-Doo episodes featuring Batman as a guest star. So, that's cool.
All in all, the movie is excellent, and if you were a fan of Brave and the Bold, you owe it to yourself to own this.
