The remote is uncomfortable and a bit slippery in the hand.The most frequently used buttons, play/pause control buttons are at the top of the remote. To use those buttons you must choke up on the remote with the bulk of the device below your palm.

Do you need to use the app to control devices in cabinets

It looks like you can use blue tooth from your smart phone/ipad etc to control hidden devices but can the remote control also control dvd players and other devices behind closed doors?

Yes it works fine in a closed cabinet, the unit also comes with an extra IR blaster in the base unit does not reach all components of your system.

Can this Device replace a Xfinity control?

The new Comcast Xfinity DVR device has a new remote. Can this remote duplicate that device?

Yes, I have replaced both my Tivo and Xfinity with a Smart Control. Make sure you go to a store and handle the remote. I found this one uncomfortable and the button layout odd.(play/pause controls are the top most buttons). If you can afford it check out the Harmony Home Control. I exchanged my Smart Control for one and I am much happier.

Is is easy enough for me to program as long as I have WiFi access and a laptop and a Bose AV 38 media system? Does this require any additional cables or parts or is everything included to program the remote to my system? My Harmony 880 pro broke.

I do not have a Bose system, however the new programming interface is much nicer than the old one. I miss the touch screen of my Harmony One but I can get that from the Smart Phone app. It should not require any additional cables. The unit also comes with an extra IR blaster if needed.

Make sure you handle the product in the store. I did not like the button layout of this remote. I ended up returning this unit for the Home control.
