This is a high quality setup that has great range. Battery life could be better, but the phones still last a few days between charges.
VERY clear.
REALLY wish it had a 3.5mm jack for headphone/mic, but I knew that going in.
The intercom between handsets is VERY handy.

Well, I was certainly skeptical at first. How could it be that something this useful could really be so cheap? It was the return policy that talked me into trying it. We've now had it for over a month and I love it.
We were able to get a number with the local area code, but it's long distance for anyone to call us - except of course, those with cell phones or extended area calling.
I was able to get a vanity number for only $10 a YEAR more! wow.
VERY easy to setup. Just connected it to power (BOO! AC adapter!) and directly to my router and after setting up my account online it was up in seconds.

I would recommend this to a friend!

Any handset can answer any call, and any handset can pick up during a call without having to "transfer" the call - they're all live all the time on the same line.

is the keyboard always lighted or only when in use?

Lighted is not good in the bedroom.

Whenever you touch ANY key it lights up. It'd kill your battery in no time if it stayed on. It's not even lit when on the charger until you touch a key.

Does it have a external headphone jack?

Can you plug in an external headphone?

Unfortunately NO. Boo!
Still a nice set; we use the intercom quite a bit.

Can I use any other DECT 6.0 expansion handset?

I am unable to locate the EL50013 expansion handset. They are out of stock.
Will another brand or model sync with this system?

No. You MUST use the recommended handset. That'll be the same with any expandable system: it'll say on the box what model you need.
Don't expect to find any at Best Buy no matter your model.
