I bought a Roku 3 and had it set up and streaming video (Netflix) in less than 20 minutes. It's really that easy. If you want an easy way to watch streaming video on your TV, Roku 3 would be a good choice.

What's great about it: Reasonable price, easy to set up.
What's not so great: Not the fastest available router.
So if you need a basic wireless router without a lot of frills and it doesn't have to have absolutely blazing speed, then this will fit the bill. You can get faster, but you pay more. It's pretty easy to set up via the set up wizard and I can't imagine anyone really having much difficulty using this. It's as close to plug and play as it gets.

Will this work if you don't subscribe to cable TV?

I purchased an LED (1080 by LG) for my mom but she doesn't subscribe to cable TV and I can't figure out how to get her local channels to come through on this new TV. Do I need to purchase an HDMI cable AND this box? Will having both of them fix the problem?!
You can get some shows shown on local (CBS, NBS, etc.) via Hulu Plus. You have to pay a monthly subscription for it, but it's still way less than cable. Easiest way to get local TV is to buy an antenna that plugs into the back of your TV. Someone at Best Buy can show them to you, they are not very expensive.
