What I was looking for:
A desktop keyboard from a reputable brand that is wireless and did not have a numerical key pad (for better ergonomics and desk space while using a drawing tablet sitting next to it.) It met these requirements perfectly.

Bonus pros: Connects via bluetooth and can save connections to 3 different bluetooth enabled devices, so I'm able to connect it to my windows desktop, my macbook pro, and even my android phone, and can easily switch between each within literally 2 or 3 seconds. With this ability & the fact that the keyboard is relatively small, its great for portability. Also, in regards to Windows and Mac compatibility, it does offer a windows key and a Command key for each respective OS, and they are in the correct positions for each. Battery life has been great. It runs on 2 AAA batteris (included in the box) and according to Logitech they'll last something like years. So far I've had mine running for about a month and a half and it's still showing 100%.
so the Cons:
I'm not a fan of the round keys. The key spacing might actually be a tiny bit tighter than a standard keyboard, not uncomfortably, but I do find myself missing a key slightly now and then. As far as i can figure out, there is no Home or End key, and i kinda miss those. I do feel like the plastic could feel a little more premium, but with the low price for the features that it offers, I can get past that. Wish it came with a USB Bluetooth receiver as my windows desktop does not have bluetooth built in. Had to buy one seperately for another 15 bucks.

super comfortable in the hand. Love the fact that it's bluetooth and can save 3 different device connections, so I'm able to switch between my windows desktop, my macbook pro, and even my android phone with the push of a button! What's great about it: great form factor and decent price
What's not so great: not much really. Maybe the fact that there's no firewire option?
this portable drive is great. The casing is a nice brushed aluminum finish. Feels and looks like a premium product. it was decently priced. Works for both mac and PC as long as it's formatted properly. Able to format the drive completely, ridding it of any built in back up software and what not that comes on most external drives these days. It runs USB 3.0 which is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. It's only USB, no firewire or e-sata or anything. Can't really comment much on actual data transfer speeds, as I'm not that finicky, however it didn't feel slow or anything, so seems good enough for me!
This product has... Attractive design/portable, Large capacity/good size
About me... Budget Conscious, Work with large multimedia files

What's great about it: get the basics without having to pay each month
What's not so great: It's white? but it can be painted, so not a huge deal
I'm in downtown San Francisco, and i have actual line-of-sight to one of the main comm towers in our area (Sutro Tower) from my apartment window, so i may be in a best-case scenario, but it's been great for me so far. I'm able to get CBS, ABC, and FOX perfectly in HD. Unfortunately I don't get NBC though. I also get a whole lot of other channels, about 75 channels in total. Even get a lot of non-english channels as well (spanish, chinese, vietnamese, korean, and i think even indian)
Setup was easy, just plugged it in to the coaxial input on my tv, ran the channel scan on the TV, and was good to go! I have mine mounted in the window just to try to pick up as much as possible, but it did work well enough just sitting on the TV stand.
Of course, your location relative to your local communications towers will be the biggest factor in what you're able to pick up. For me, i ended up with way more than I expected, so I'm totally happy with it.

What's great about it: Allows you to watch online media on your TV and control it with your smartphone or tablet
What's not so great: having to use additional USB cable for power
I love the google chromecast! It's tiny but packs a big punch. Allows me to watch YouTube, Netflix (subscription required), Hulu (subscription required), Viki, as well as watch media I have stored on my computer on the local network using Plex Media Server. It also has other services, such as HBO GO, Pandora, Google Music, Vevo, and more, but I don't use these quite as much. You can also cast your chrome browser tab from your computer to your TV!
Set up is super simple. Very straight forward and takes about 5 min, then it'll probably run an update on itself which will take another couple of minutes. Then install the Chromecast app on your phone or tablet. You control the whole thing via the respective apps on your smartphone or tablet, or through the chrome browser on your computer. Works flawlessly! video quality is great. Sound is as good as any. I literally use mine everyday!
only tiny gripe is that you have to either plug it in for power either via the USB port on your TV (if you have one) or plug it in to the wall with the supplied ac adapter, but this is understandable since there is no power run through HDMI. Oh one cool thing is it comes with an extender so that if your TV is wall mounted and you can't have the chromecast sticking straight out the back, you can use the extender to bend it down for a lower profile. They really thought of everything.
I would HIGHLY recommend this device. Even if you already have a smart TV, this would be a great addition. Controlling it via your smartphone or tablet is great, and so much easier than trying to type on your TV to search for videos.

Typing is nice and quiet, with good travel. Keys have a springiness to them, up to you to decide if you like that feeling.

how many pics will a 1tb hard drive hold?
there's no way of answering this question without knowing the specs of the images you plan to store on the drive. Image size/ file format will drastically affect the number of images a drive can hold. Lets just say, a lot.

yes, USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. Data transfers will just run at USB 2.0 speeds, rather than the potentially faster speeds of 3.0

there's no reason it shouldn't work. a USB hard drive is a USB hard drive and will work as long as you have a working USB port and the drive is formatted to work with your Operating system (which for you i'm assuming is Windows, so you should be good to go right out of the box)

I have an older computer-is this compatible with Windows Vista?
I saw that this is preformatted for Windows 8, 7 and XP - what about Vista?
I don't see any reason it wouldn't work with vista. As long as you have working USB 2.0 or 3.0 ports, this drive should work for you.
if by some slim chance it doesn't seem to show up in your explorer window (though i doubt it wouldn't) then just go to disk management on your system and format the drive to NTFS or Fat32 and it'll work.
