I've used this drive for several months and it is reliable. However, compared to other brands, it does not appear to be as fast. Also, some technologies (like Intel RAPID controller) do not recognize this drive.

Use for Xbox 360?
Could this be used for an Xbox 360 (older one)? I was using a Buffalo router previously, and I bought an access point that was matched to the router and I plugged that into my 360. For years it worked beautifully. Now my internet provider is going to gateways, and my old access point can't find the gateway. Thinking this might be a nice solution, as 360 wireless adapters are getting hard to find (and cost 3x as much as this). Thank you to all responders.
I have not tried it. But I would say, no. It requires drivers to be loaded and I don't know how that would be accomplished on an XBox.

Can this be used to convert a USB Brother Multifunction printer to wireless?
No. This can only be used on a PC or laptop.

Compatibility is more about operating system. If you have a USB 2.0 compatible port, then it should work.

Can the WD be used to back up a system image file, for total disk restore?
I am intending to use this external drive not only to backup data and transfer to a different PC, but also to create a system image (probably in different partitions), including OS (registry), apps/programs, data, pictures, etc. The WD earlier answer for transferring files stated that their backup was only for data.
Yes. I use it with Acronis and Veeam. Those two programs work without issue. I would assume the Windows 7/8 backup work also. It seems to work with anything.

Yes. But I don't think XP supports USB 3.0. Or more accurately, XP wasn't installed on computers when 3.0 was introduced. USB 3,0 is a Win7 and after type of technology.

can this be used as a storage directly from security cameras?
I don't know your exact configuration, but I'll say no. Depending upon the number of cameras, the frame rate and the resolution I would not recommend this solution. You want a drive or set of drives that are SATA or eSATA attached. In larger installations you can use a NAS drive with a gigabit connection if the number of cameras allows it.
