What's great about it: Fast and quiet
What's not so great: Can't think of anything bad about it
I bought this hard drive to clean install Win 7 on my computer. It replaced the original Barracuda SATA drive (also 500 GB) in my 2008 Gateway. That drive never gave me any problems ( I still use it if I need to run Vista for some reason). But putting these drives side by side, the new one is definitely quieter and runs much cooler to the touch. Maybe the coolness is due to Win 7 running more efficiently than Vista. I can't say for sure. But what I am sure about is that I'm happy with this HD and would get another.
I would recommend this to a friend!

my pc runs on windows vista and i want to upgrade it to win 7 as well as acquire a new hard drive...what could you recommend?

I did exactly what you want to do using this very drive. I had no problems what so ever and HD works great. Go for it !! Be sure that your Win 7 is a clean install (no upgrades).
