I picked this up for my 101 year old grandmother to use in conjunction with bluetooth headphones. I guess for the price, this is a good buy, but with the first one not working right out of the box, I am still a little concerned.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

How to remove stand/base

Once the stand/base is snapped in, can it be removed? If so, how? Not sure I can yank it out without breaking the bracket holding in place.
I did take it apart as I had to return the first one I purchased. I don't recall having any issue taking the base off. I may have pressed in on the clips, but it released with no problems.

Verizon says I need an HDTV for use without a cable box

Verizon says I need an HDTV for use without a cable box. I'd like to use this in my Childs Room without purchasing an extra cable box. Does anyone know if this TV has any problems with that. I guess is the fiber optics factor.
You do not need a cable box. I hooked this up for my grandmother at her nursing home. They do not have cable boxes in each room.
