Persistent intermittent audio hum

Connected new player to flatscreen TV with the provided 3-color/prong cable. What is the cause of a hum (intensity varies) when turned on and during portions of spoken words? Usually during male voices. Less or not at all during female voices or music. Tried on both sets of TV input ports.
Not from device - check your speakers. Or there is another electronic device interferring
