What's great about it: Consistent high speed performance.
Cable modems are very simple to setup, so performance is the key factor that makes this modem stand out. The DOCSIS 3.0 speeds are amazing, especially after being on VDSL for years. Also, Motorola has an excellent reputation for quality products, and this modem did not disappoint.

wireless connections

How many wireless devices can be connected at a time.? What other devices do I have to choose from?
This device is just a modem, which means that no wireless devices can be connected to it. If wireless (WiFi) access is needed, then 1 of 2 options are available. 1 - Instead of by this modem, Motorola also has a wireless gateway model, which is a modem/router combination. 2 - Connect an existing wireless router or newly purchased router to this modem to gain WiFi access.

Would I need to purchase a seperate router if I purchase this modem?

Yes if you want to connect more than one computer or device to the internet, and also if you want wireless internet (WiFi) access.

Does this have a Cable type plugin in the rear of the modem?

Like my current ISP provided one does?
