Had the modem for many months now. So far so good. Never had to unplug the thing either, not once. Installation was simple too. I just had to call tech support and say I'm changing my modem.
Some companies make it even easier by having the first web page redirect you to their automated web site. Either way the phone call only took 5 minutes.
I only wish Time Warner would up their game around San Diego.
My modem supports faster speeds than my ISP can provide.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have always used Harmony remotes in the past. Always easy to program and use. The only thing about the remote is that you have to keep the thing pointed at your devices as you choose your activity, and keep it pointed for a few seconds while it starts everything.
It took a while to get everyone used to doing that. Otherwise you get the annoying situations of half the devices turned on and some didn't.
The help mode is really handy for that problem though. It asks if everything is on, and prompts a yes or no on the screen.
I found it useful to add a button on the activity pages for the correct TV input. People would usually stop holding the remote and put it down at the last second before it sent the "HDMI4" command to the TV.
The back light is my favorite part about it. All you do is pick it up and it turns on, give it a light shake if it doesn't. My previous Harmony had a button you had to press but this makes it easier.
The only reason I havent gone to one of the pricier remotes that are the "Smart" remotes that go through walls is because I already had my TV wall mounted. I didn't have to plug anything in or hide any wires with this remote.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Earlier Version

We have this remote which we bought around 5 years ago. It is glitchy and does not work well to say the least. Looking on all the websites, it seems that this remote is one of the best universals out there. Has anyone had an earlier version of this model and noticed improvements with this one? Could we have just gotten a lemon? I am hesitant to buy the same model since we have had so much trouble with our current one. Thanks!
With this remote, and previous versions batteries make a huge difference.

The other thing is the way you start your activities.

You have to have the remote pointed straight at your devices before you even press the Watch TV button, and then keep the remote pointed for around 5 seconds. This was often a source of frustration until I taught everyone to do that.

If you want a better remote, without having to do that process you should check out the Harmony Smart Control. It comes with a little hockey puck thing that you leave close to your devices. And a little IR Blaster on a cable for devices that it doesn't reach.

Will this remote work with devices that are remotely located in a closet?

No,

For that you need the Harmony Smart Control. Its on sale right now too.

Will this work operate the smart tv functions on a LG smart tv

Will this also work with a bose hometheater speaker system, directv box, and bluray player
It will work with your TV but only with line of site (IR).

You have to point the remote at the TV for everything.

If you want one that will work using the "Smart" way, you want to buy the Harmony Smart Control. It has built in Wi-Fi and can control the TV through the network. You wont have to be pointing to make it work.

What comes with the remote ?

Do you had to purchase IR & Flasher To work with the Control, because all my components are locate in the Closet ?
No, it comes with just the remote and batteries.

You need the Harmony Smart Control for IR Blasters. You cannot add that feature to this remote.

Are there any remotes available compatible with Charter equipment that don't require "line of sight"?

Charter provides remotes with their equipment that require "line of sight" with their receivers. Are there any receivers available that are compatible with Charter equipment that don't require "line of sight"?
Yes, the Harmony Smart Control.

It has a little device that is a bit wider than a hockey puck. You just leave it in front of your cable box and the remote you have would connect to it through bluetooth. You can change channels and volume without line of site. Through walls, upstairs... Pretty good range.

Bonus, it has a smartphone / tablet app that you can use at the same time. Its smart enough to know what activity you are on regardless of who turned it on or off. Great for when you are too lazy to get the remote from across the room once you already sat down :)

will it work with bose sound tv base?

It works with EVERYTHING!

I got it to work with ancient surround sound equipment that I didn't think even came with remotes. It will work and make it easy too.

where is shift

I am at Log in and Password tab and I want to switch from alphabet to numbers but display only shows alphabet. I dont know how what to press for shift so I can use numbers
You need to add more information. What was the device you were using. This is more of an issue with the TV, Blu-Ray, or Streaming Device (Roku).

If you were using the numbers and cycled through ABC, you would just keep clicking the button for it to cycle to uppercase letters.

Sometimes there are more buttons on the remote under "Devices". Once you hit "Devices", Choose your device, and scroll through the many pages you see on the 4x4 screen by hitting the small buttons on the bottom of the screen. Just hit Activity when you are done looking.
