As said, overall I'm very satisfied with this unit. Big and easy to see for my old eyes. I have used this locally, and also just returned from Germany (with a Garmin optional SD map card inserted) and used it there. Two things about this unit I am less than satisfied: > Forget about using the suction cup mount; it falls off on multiple vehicles and locations. I finally bought an optional friction/surface mount and that has solved the mounting problem. I'm guessing it's just too heavy for the suction mount. > Routing. I have used it locally to find addresses where I know most of the way but don't know the neighbourhood and it wants to take me all kinds of crazy ways to get there. I realize this is a truck unit, but have gone through my avoidences menu and also set up what I'm driving. While I was in Germany, it was always suspect how it was taking me so had to doublecheck the overall route vs a paper map. I would also set up the trip planner to force it to go a particular way; time well spent! The big domestic test will be in a few weeks when I will be traveling over much of the US and some of Canada in a 3 wk trip. I'll watch it on routes I know so can best decide how to deal with it on the routes I don't. Good buy overall as I said, but it's not perfect. I do like the lifetime maps.

Does the 760 have a trip planning mode
Trip planning mode
Yes, it does. On the page that has the "Where to?" and "View Map", press the icon at the bottom for "Apps" and it will come up top row right on my unit.
