What's great about it: Easy to use, beautiful screen
What's not so great: Workout features not reliable
Bought the Gear Fit for the dual purpose of wanting a nice high-end fitness tracker, combined with wanting something to help me stay on top of my calendar and personal messages at home and at work. The phone integration, while a little intermittent at times, has been everything I hoped for. My only complaints are on the fitness side - the heart rate monitor doesn't track reliably, and has never sent data to the S Health app on the phone. I also continually get error messages while biking/running that "no movement has been detected" and eventually the app stops the workout on its own, even though the workout history clearly shows the GPS signal was detecting properly (and maps my run).
This product has... Attractive design, Right size, Useful features, Quick reading, Easy to wear, Easy to read

Will this device track sleep activity, including time slept and/or quality of sleep? Thanks
It has limited sleep tracking ability - basically just keeps track of how much of the night you spend motionless between when you "start" sleep and "end" sleep in the morning. The manual start is a little annoying, and there's no evaluation of your night, just the raw numbers. Maybe improved in a future S Health update?

Upgrades
If I purchase this to go with my current phone a Galaxy III & later this year I upgrade to the S5 will it connect to the new device?
Yes, you can disconnect the watch from your S3 and connect it to your S5 when you get a new phone. You install the Gear Fit Manager on either phone, which allows you to perform all that maintenance. You may lose some of the workout history that's saved on your old S3, but that's a risk no matter how you go about the upgrade. (Unless S Health is uploading your information to Samsung as well)
