What's great about it: not much
What's not so great: Need to link to an Apple product or certain smartphones
Sold without instructions, and I mean nothing. The support team is very good, but one needs to wait for an email response. Does not hold a charge for ten days. One needs to synch it twice a day, even then it did not always record time periods correctly.

All the Polar heart monitors were made with those issues in mind...waterproof and training. You will need to wear a chest belt.

what kind of plastic is it made from

what kind of plastic is used in the wristband? i want to buy one but need to know that and if you have any other information about it. i like to get them for my five kids too.

I believe the band itself is made of rubber, very flexible and comfortable to wear. I was confused at first, I thought the ends joined, the ends do not, the "spring" of the band holds it on the wrist. The Up bands come in different iterations, I have the second generation. The band can be worn in the shower, but should not be submerged. Make sure someone has an Apple product to have the app for it. (That is a major issue.)
