What's great about it: Suction, easy bin emptying, awesome auto adjustment for floor type
What's not so great: Heavy. Attachment storage
After purchasing three other vacuums that it the dust within a year, I finally took the plunge and spent a mint on a Dyson. I wish I had done it sooner! It gets my floors truly clean, and the bin is super easy to empty. With other bagels vacuums I've had, I always had to take the bin and a trash bag into the garage to empty it because dirt would undoubtedly fly everywhere. With this vac, it's literally just a push of a button. Added bonus - the cord is really long. I can do all 1500 sq ft of my first floor with only having to move the plug once.
It is a bit heavy, but the ball makes it easy to maneuver. The only thing that I still think is kind of a bummer is that the attachments are stored in a separate bag rather than on the vacuum itself. Of course, I can't rightfully comment on the weight of the thing AND say more stuff should be stored on the unit. In short, it's not that big of a deal to break out the nice attachment bag that comes with it.
Overall, solid investment. The alternative to spending the money on a Dyson now is to spend the same amount of money on several different vacuums over the next couple of years, and THEN spend the money on a Dyson. Learn from my mistake and just invest in a quality product now. It's worth it.
This product is or has... Enough suction that a single-pass does the job, Right length hose, Useful tools, easy to empty, A great pet hair picker upper, Long enough cord, Allergy filtration does the job, Convenient to store
About me... Budget Conscious, Pet owner, everyday user, small family
I would recommend this to a friend!

Is the cord retractable and is there a place to store it. Tried putting it back where I first pulled it out, but it was impossible.

I think you may have posted your question in association with the wrong unit. (?) The upright doesn't have a retractable cord. You just wind it around the two pegs in the back.
