I like this carpet cleaner a LOT. I've had the larger Bissel and Hoover versions before, and this smaller Hoover does just as good a job. It maybe even better at picking up more of the water you send down into the carpet. When I had the larger machines, I did a side by side test of those two. They seemed to do about the same job at cleaning, and retrieved equal amounts of the water. To me, this is an important feature, because I don't want a damp carpet for days.
I hate a musty, mildewey smell more than anything, and I felt that the little red Hoover Power Scrub did a better job of sucking up almost every bit of water I began with. The smaller size was a plus too, when I came to narrow sections that my old larger unit would have never fit into. I'm really glad I purchased this cleaner. I'm very satisfied.
Note: I also find that using a Pivoting Utility Fan that can blow toward the floor does an amazing job of drying carpet more quickly. Well worth spending $60 or so on one.

Would this work on office type carpeting?

I work in a small office and instead of paying for a carpet cleaning service I am researching buying one for the office. Just curious if this cleaner would work better on thicker carpet or the standard short office type carpet? We do have some dirt stains from shoes.
I don't see why not. I think it would do a good job.
