Read reviews on other brands and other Hoover models before deciding on this one. Amazed at the dirt it removed from my carpets and upholstered furniture.

Will it get out pet urine ?

I used thie professional cleaning solution along with Bissell Oxy Boost added and, yes, it removed the stain and odor. I also used an enzyme cleaner to pretreat before using the carpet cleaner.

Will this kill dust mites? I uderstand that steam cleaning does but was concerned about just shampooing.

This will remove dust mites. I don't care if they are dead as long as they are vacuumed up. You use hot water in this, but not steam temp.

What model can be used to wash and rinse and suck up dirty water on tile floors?

I use a Hoover Floormate on my tile floors. For grout lines, a shop vac will suck up the last bit of rinse water. I bought the attachment set for the shop vac which includes a crevice tool, furniture tool, everything you need.
