This was a real value purchase. The towers sounded great when paired with my powered sub. I set them up as a sub and satelite system.

What's great about it: sound
What's not so great: it's complicated to use
I just started using this receiver so the jury is not out. It sounds very good when played thru my Energy surround speakers. The sound calibration did not work so I still need to find a way to manually adjust individual speaker volumes. My Best Buy rep said this was possible. The users manual is not very comprehensive. Sony support was responsive but did not always provide good answers to my questions.
This product has... Interfaces well with TV

I would like the option of controlling zone 2 with an app on my smart phone (such as streaming music, volume, etc.). Is that option availble?
I have the same receiver. I would like to do that too. A technician suggested pre-amping out of the Sony into a digital amp like the NAD D7050 which supposedly can be controlled with a wireless app via bluetooth. Another suggested amp was the Bluesound product. It is a wireless amp.

i need to control two zones one would be 5 speakers and a sub woofer and the other zone would be 3 speakers is this one that works and are there other
I tried to do the same thing with the same receiver. It will not work well.

will this hook up to a impedence matching multi-room system?
i just recently purchased a home that has a 15-16 speaker system set up through out the home. the previous owners took the receiver though. any info on these type of systems will be much appreciated.
I curretly have the same issue. I consulted with an A/V system designer and an audio technician. They said that the Sony is only stable down to 6 ohms. You need an amp that is stable down to the 2 to 4 ohm range. Try using the pre-outs on the Sony into an amp designed to handle the impedance.
