What's great about it: Is all that it advertises to be
What's not so great: rewind and pause for sat radio tuner would be nice. Need to dig a little to sort ipod music, but not awful.
I like it. It's better than it's older model. The remote has more functions that the previous models, even tho it looks the same. You can turn on and off most beeps and sounds, except the beeping it makes when turning off the car. (I could live without that). Overall, it's a good Sony radio.

Is the part that goes into your ear hard or soft? I’m looking for the hard kind. If these are soft, do you have a recommendation for hard ones for a runner?

They are soft. comes with different sizes, for different size ears.

Are they comparable with an mp3 player. Thank you

It works in a standard mini jack. I use them for listening to my ipod and watching video on my samsung 7 edge. So I think you will be ok with about any MP3 player.

what's a Geek Squad installation?

It says that a Geek Squad is strongly recommended for this product. So i would like to know if it's something that needs to be purchased separately. I do not know exactly what that is.
I don't work for Best Buy, but I do know that they recommend that you have their in-store tech's (Geek Squad) install the radio for you. You could be charged for parts and labor. I did install my own, but I needed to buy a dash kit and a wire harness for my car model. They sell them there. Geek Squad is handy, if you don't want to tackle the job yourself.
