The design is generally good, but I find an item can fall out of the freezer basket and remain on the "floor', preventing the freezer from closing until someone gets on their hands and knees and digs behind to remove the offending item. One more thing; it is huge with a deep footprint. Don't try to put this in a small kitchen.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

we have a 35" clear entry door openingto our home, with the doors & drawer removed will this unit fit into our home

Experienced delivery professionals should be able to handle it. Doing it yourself will be a chore but possible.

Should water line be hooked up to the hot or cold faucet?

Always use the cold as your water source.
