Is there any DVD player i can buy that just easily plugs into a computer to play videos?
i bought this one and it needs a video capture card or something so was wondering is there a player that is simpler to use with a laptop?
There are very few DVD players designed to plug into a Computer Desktop or laptop. If the computer MONITOR has HDMI and/or Composite inputs and the DVD player has the same outputs, than the DVD player can be hooked directly to the monitor screen. HOWEVER, current copyright conventions and the encoding/decoding copy protections on the DVDs, make plugging into a computer relatively difficult. This action was taken in an attempt to cut down on first generation video piracy (video copying and distribution). To plug into a computer via USB or other input, the input would need to be converted into computer digital format, or you would need to purchase and instal either an HDMI or Composite input card. The computer would still need to convert it into a signal the computers video output circuits could use which slows down the viewing process. If this is done, while you could "copy" a disk, you would still have to play the whole move in order to get it onto the hard drive, no speed up in disk handling. To give a simplified version an audio CD can be ripped in a computer in about 8 minutes (depending on quality of RIP), but playback copy in raw audio would take 30-40 minutes (depending on amount of music on the disk)
