After many years, my old Harmony quit and reluctantly I had to look for a replacement. What drew me to this one was 1 - the price and 2 - works without needing direct sight of the devices. The later was an issue for my receiver, due to being in a cabinet and at certain angles would not work. This new one was set up in just a couple minutes. All devices work with the doors closed and the phone app has come in handy to override the teenagers attempt to control viewing. This would be a 5, but I have had to "reboot" the system twice, when for no reason it stopped working. You do this from the phone app, so you may want to look elsewhere if this bothers you.

All components will be behind closed doors, will I be able to turn TV on/off,do likewise for a DVD behind closed doors will this remote work?
Sounds similar to my setup. I have the main unit by the tv and the blaster inside the cabinet with the other devices. Works great, no issues.

Harmony Smart Control RF question
Can it communicate RF to the hub then IR to the devices? How does the IR blaster connect to the hub? Can you get IR emitters to attach to the front of each device you want to control so you can keep everything centralized in a rack? If so how do they connect to the hub and where do you buy them? Can I see a drawing of the connections points?
You can connect 2 of the blasters to the main unit. It comes with 1. I placed the 1 inside my closed cabinet and that works for the 3 devices in there. I guess all you can do is try.

Do you need to use the app to control devices in cabinets
It looks like you can use blue tooth from your smart phone/ipad etc to control hidden devices but can the remote control also control dvd players and other devices behind closed doors?
You should be able to use either. I have the same issue and either works for me.
