What's great about it: Can take a photo or vid w. case closed
What's not so great: Elasticised corner holders are of unknown durability/life
Smart design, easy flip-out stand, sturdy and secures when closed w. ease or can be left easy-opening. Has a "rich" look and feel and "cleans up well." Worth the investment to protect a costly and fragile product.

What's not so great: You've got me there, pal/paless!
It falls into the category of a "DUH" decision to get additional memory and instant portability vs. paying $$$ for upgraded memory in the base product-$500 for^ GBs and optical reader compared to $100 for a stand-alone LG optical reader and 16GB of extra memory-a real no brainer often overlooked by the average consumer.

What's great about it: Great for the non-geek to get help w. changing technology.
Before I buy electronics, I have a long term idea of a system I will eventually have. As I add components (BluRay, remote, amp, speakers, HTMI linkage) I find having an expert do it and show me how to maximize my use of capability of components (camera, LT, TV, etc) has allowed me to enjoy as I near my optimum set-up. They don't talk down to you, just make sure you tell them you didn't understand a darn thing they just said and they will simplify it to your level. I have found an agent I ask for every time; and am willing to wait for his next available date if I need in-home installation, troubleshooting, fixes. Would suggestbthis, since they will know your system and where you want to go with it and how much you know from the get-go, Happy Geeking! (BTW-Don't be a sexist! Both male and female agents are smart as a whip.)

What's great about it: No degradation of performance over longer distance.
What's not so great: Nothing. (Costs more; but DUH!)
I visualized where and how I would hook-up my components and decided that the longer cord, despite the cost, gave me the flexibility I wanted. I keep it plugged into my 46" LED, 3D, Samsung screen and put the coiled cable under the side of the screen ready to be attached to my laptop, etc.

What's great about it: Is not touch screen (+), ^RAM + memory, faster than $1.2K
What's not so great: Make "CapsLock" key back-lit to indicate on (now tiny lite).
#1 I am an avid Samsung/Logitech brand junkie and this lite, metal, lightning-fast processor and enough memory 4 gaming+movies model caught my eye. No touch screen (no biggie), no optical read/burn (bought a LP R/B peripheral 4 $50 and I think I have a better LT than the $1.2K model. I'm an author and need speed 4 use of Dragon software. The Intel Core15 Processor and side-Sync for use w.my SIII cellphone and easy hook-up on HTMI4 of my 46" HD/3D/LED TV via 24' HTMI cable rounds out a circle of interoperability, sharing, viewing and entertainment w. my own popcorn, Samsung amp +BluRay 3D player. With all this +WiFi, more USB ports would be nice (but just buy a 4-port plug-in), 5*s.
This product is... Good sound quality, Big screen size, A nice compact size, easy to set up, lightning fast, speaker plug-in

what model cd/dvd drive is compatible with this computer?
I look at quality, reputation and cost for what you are getting. Therefore I bought a LG, Mac Compatible Slim Portable DVD Writer, Model #GP60NS50. It is ~6"x6"x0.5", and has worked fine so far as downloading software, phots on CDs, even a MRI scan w/o a hitch. Cost is $40-$50 at Best Buy. You might be able to get it cheaper at wharehouse outlets via the internet; but I want somebody close-by in case I have a problem-plus my experience with Best-Buy reputation for standing behind its products.
BTW: You didn't ask; but I would recommend that if you have invested some bucks in myriad electronics. an umbrella maintenance/tech support contract with the Geek squad has saved me about a grand in virus repairs, set-up hassles and home service. At 70, w. a twisted spine and all my lummbar discs blown out, I can't haul a 46" screen TV or a printer to Best Buy . With the repair /Tech Support contract, all I pay for is the home visit surcharge. It has paid for itself 2-3 times over.

Is there a way to get itunes?
I have to use songs on all my projects for class but I can not figure out how to get iTunes on here so I can get all my songs on here. Or is there a way that I can save all my songs from my phone on here?
It runs a Google/Bing "tiles system, that has a music as well as video tiles. Here again, I think it is the iTune software compatability w, 8.1 that is the question-and that is for iTunes to address. I've loaded my CD/DVR collection that I would want to have to take with me, and use my home audio system and amp for max capability and quality. I'm eclectic in my choice of music genres w. the exception of punk rock noise and unintelligible lyrics productions. I personally don't buy iTune music-so I'm not familiar w. them. "Each to his/her own choice.", said the farmer, as he kissed his cow!

this computer can run programs like autocad architecture?
Mine came w. Windows 8, which has been updated to 8.1. It has an Intel Core i5 processor that runs Roadrunner Ultimate w. lightning-fast speed.
I would check the compatibility of your CAD software w. 8.1. BTW 8.1 is the best improvement version since 1990, in my opinion. The only problem is Microsoft's sense of entitlement to interrupt whatever you are doing to do an update, sometimes resulting in a loss of any unsaved work.
I'm not "techie" enough to know what an "autocad" is; so I would suggest a call to the developer of the software for the best answer as to compatability w. 8.1-Good Hunting!

I've had PCs, which have the benefit of running a big monitor; but, for me, being 100% disabled, the portability allows use in my recliner (have Wi-Fi so I can surf, compose or print from the TV Room, den, etc.
I've had a $1200 Toshiba (heavy), a HP (flimsy case) and now the Samsung. I bought a LG optical RW peripheral (easy to use) and a four-gang USB plug in to add to versatility.
15.6 diag is enough for my needs; but doesn't accommodate having 3-4 or more open tabs on a big monitor if you need that capability. Best of both worlds would be for Samsung to develop a detachable screen and a plug in for a big monitor, hmmmm?

Does this have a cooling fan?
If so how loud is it?
I'm 80% hearing impaired-so I can't hear one. Not in specs. Have it sitting on a tilt stand that has a cooling fan-a good alternative!

Is the rocket fish 24' HS HDMI with Ethernet cable shielded?
Depends on what you mean by shielded. Almost if not all electronic cabling is vulnerable to a lo-level nuclear Electro-Magnetic Pulse; but I have had my cabling hooked up in a smalltown setting with other telephone high-speed internet cabling and have experienced no detectable impact or cross-over feed. If you are under a TV tower, high voltage transmission tower or electronic towers, I would check with your Best Buy Geek Squad local store which should have visibility of any problems experienced in your vicinity. I was wondering can I do payments for this? like once a month
Check w. salesperson. You can probably qualify for the 18 month payment program w. NO INTEREST; and have use of the product while you pay. I've done this with several purchases of TV, camera, laptop (2), etc. and it is easy on a fixed retirees budget!
