This is an easy-to-use, easy-to-learn tablet in a size big enough to watch videos on it or(as I use it) cast video to TV.

I had a previous version of Slingbox and had some temporary problems setting it up. Except for the "futuristic", non-rectangular shape of the device, this new version worked well and was very easy to set up.

this is not very glamorous, but it replaced an original cable for a Galaxy tablet that somehow got "fried", and it works just great with an old USB charging "block".

I am pleased that this allows me to send video from my MAc through HDMI to TV, but it seems to need a separate audio cable. Still, it is useful as you can listen to the computer's audio.

I am very pleased at the ease, effectiveness and reasonable price of our new Chromecast. We took one to a family member's, showed them what it does, and immediately realized it was a big "bang for the buck" Christmas gift for anyone that uses Chrome, Youtube, etc. What a great little device!

Just to make sure I understand this correctly, if I have 2 cable boxes in my home in the US, and purchase two different slingboxes, I should then be able to have two televisions in remote locations be able to watch shows separately?

Why would I want DirecTV if I have sling?

Slingbox sends via internet video signal from a different location hooked up to internet. For instance, watch your DirecTV in a hotel via internet. Slingbox(not Sling TV) needs such a source. I watch TV signal from my home at health club, traveling etc.

do I need a google account

It does many useful things for me and I have NO google account. Maybe it would do more if you did, but it is worth the purchase!
