This webcam works great to keep an eye on printing progress. It is connected to my raspberry pi wifi on my Rostock Max v3 3D printer. Using Astroprint I'm able to control and monitor my prints from most anywhere. Good quality picture with only one issue... the auto focus is affected by the hot end movement. Camera placement does help minimize that.

Other than attaching to a monitor, what capabilities does this camera have to stand on it's own?

Great camera for monitoring your 3D prints.
