Not much to say: this is a regular stereo (1/8”) male-to-female 3’ extension cord. It does the job beautifully.

Bought my second set a month or so ago to power rear speakers (original set powers side speakers.) They work like a charm - absolutely no problems. Very nice not having to string even more cabling.

I love this thing - despite a lower resolution than higher priced systems, it has a better display with what I feel to be richer color and lack of "screen door" effect. It's well conceived and executed - cabling is convenient and sufficiently long, the inline controls are useful and easy to find, tracking is reasonably accurate. I play as many 2D games as I do VR and they present beautifully. Setup is a little involved but not particularly difficult - just expect to spend some time putting it together so it's tidy so you're not having to re-do it later. Initial software offerings are a mixed bag but mostly decent, with some good titles on the horizon. I do recommend getting a stand for it as well as decent headphones (although the included earbuds are surprisingly good.)

Beautifully done introduction to immersive, interactive virtual reality - beautifully executed. Alas, it's over far too quickly - but for what it is, it's fantastic. This is what I use to show my friends VR.

Can you get two of these and use it for rear speakers on a 7.1 sound system?

Yes; that's what I'm doing. Works quite well.

I've read a few of the somewhat "negative" reviews, and several refer to this product failing shortly after one year (the length of the Rocketfish product warranty). Does anyone have experience using this for longer periods (e.g., maybe 2 years)?

I've been using my first unit for well over two years, I believe. Just bought an additional unit, which is also proving reliable.
