It works great. Connect it to the TV and fire up your iPhone or Android and after a little set up, you're good to go!

Why Chromecast if most streaming services are supported by my TiVo and DVD player?

Between my aging TiVo Premier and Panasonic DVD player, I have built-in apps to stream Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, YouTube, Cinema Now, Amazon Instant Video, and others.

Why would I otherwise use Chromecast other than directly displaying occasional live content from a PC or Android device?

Just checking to see if I'm missing something in my understanding! Thanks.
It's portable, easy to set up and very handy if you have a party. Just get people on your Wi-Fi and then they can play their own music and stuff. It's really handy.
