Is much sturdier and easier to use than the cheaper $80 remote. Got it on sale and replaced every remote in my house with this one. Love it with no complaints.

will this device control my cable box? i.e. DVR, and change channels.

It should. I have DirecTV and it controls it with no problem. Just need to enter which cable company you have.
