What's great about it: Small, good sound, great noise reduction
What's not so great: Cord from battery/electronics module to iPhone could be longer.
I picked these up before a long overseas flight. I have used isolating earbuds in the past but have not used active noise reduction. I prefer earbuds over headphone because of their portability and comfort.
I had tried the Bose over the ear noise cancelling headphones in the store before but the size was just too large to bring on a long flight. Not to mention the cost and the fact that without batteries, they were non functional but the noise cancelling was amazing.
When I saw the ad about the new sound isolating ear buds, I saw that they had removed all the mechanical and technical obstacles (although the price is still a bit steep). I had to try them. The iPhone/iPod microphone and remote control were like icing on the cake and work perfectly, as does the button that allows you to hear outside sounds when pressed. They also work pretty well without a charge (noise reduction is off of course) so in a pinch, they can still offer some usability. The sound with noise reduction active is very good; I think better than the first generation Bose in-ear phones which I have. Better high end and midrange although the bass is good in both sets.
I have shared them with others and all have been impressed. If you can afford these babies, there is no reason to hesitate. Get yourself some Reward points!
PS - note about the cord length. The overall cord length is fine. It's just the short stretch from the electronics module to the source that is small. In other words, if the electronic module were just a bit farther from the end, it could help in some cases.
This product has... short cord, amazing technology

What's great about it: Great sound and functionality, fairly easy set up
What's not so great: No power down option
I have been using the Logitech Squeezebox Radio in my kitchen for quite a long time now. I get lousy FM reception so I bought the Logitech to stream my radio station as well as other services like XM, Rhapsody, my iTunes library, etc. It's a pretty good product but tends to lose connection and reboot itself randomly. It also has good portability with a battery and small size but lacks in audio fidelity.
So, I turned to Sonos to see if I could alleviate the issues. So far, it's been amazing. I wasn't too impressed with the sound at the store especially when it was compared to the Play 5 but the small footprint of the Play 3 is a much better match for my kitchen and when I got it home, the sound pretty much blew me away! I'm sure the Play 5 would sound better but it's much larger and $100 more. This is by far the best "radio" I have had (although I have a Cambridge Soundworks model that is pretty darn good too).
Set up with the wireless bridge was pretty easy so now I can move the speaker around to wherever there is an AC outlet. It looks like you have to reconnect it each time you move it but that's pretty easy (just fire up whichever Sonos controller you want - I have iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Kindle Fire HD options), Add Device and depress the 2 buttons on the Play 3 as indicated in the instructions. I thought it was going to be a pain to keep some sort of controller handy all the time but once it's kicked off to a radio station or to Pandora (which I'm listening to now) you can go on about your business and can lower or raise the volume as needed at the Play 3. Also, I don't believe you need to have your computer on unless you are streaming music from its hard drive.
All in all, after one day only though, I'm very happy. The sound is great (try the Play 3 first at home if you want a compact size) and the setup was very fast. Buy it now!

Can these be worn with motorcycle helmet?

I was wondering/hoping that these can be worn while wearing a motorcycle helmet. I have varying degrees of "success" wearing in-the-ear style headphones (earphones?), including the non-noise-cancelling version of Bose earbud headphones. I like the idea of noise cancelling feature as that may help with reducing overall noise while riding motorcycle. Thanks.
Size wise, they are exactly the same as the previous Bose in-ear buds (2nd generation with the little ear wing to hold it in place). Sound-wise, I feel that it would be dangerous to wear them while riding. The noise reduction is VERY good and will not only reduce your own engine noise but also the sound of other cars and maybe even horns. The noise reduction seems to work over a large frequency range so doesn't only remove low frequency jet sounds but most everything else as well. Just my opinion though. I don't ride a motorcycle.
