Prior to my purchase, I think it was a little confusing because there were several different consoles available, as well as different hard drives. Then there is the competition to consider. But I have a very old Xbox that I've had for probably 15 years so I guess I was predisposed to purchase another MS product.
I purchased a couple of games with the unit when I bought it, but as it turns out it wasn't necessary. I got a free download of Battlefield and that is a great game. It's challenging and the graphics are really good. When I play, I find myself playing Battlefield. I'm just amazed at the improvements that they've made. Add to that it will also play Bluray movies and others. So it's very functional and simple to use and setup. So all in all,it was a good purchase.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've had Gateway, Dell, and now the Asus. I actually returned a Dell computer that I had purchased just before Christmas. I wasn't happy with it at all. It was a stroke of luck that I ended up getting this computer. It has been and continues to be the most satisfying computer I've ever had. The support is really good, and it doesn't run out unlike Dell. Also, you can actually call the 800 number and get a real person. I had to fight like heck to find a way to get a hold of a person at Dell. No question this is the way to go. I love this computer.

I've purchased two of these DVD players in the last two months. I purchased a new TV for my den and wanted to get a DVD player as well. The price for this unit was lower than the previous unit because it was an open box sale. Everything was there in the box (nothing missing) and it came with the full factory warranty so to me it was a great deal.
The player works fine. I noticed that when you open the drive it does make a sort of mechanical noise, but that's just the mechanism working. All of the functions work as they should and I'm pleased with the purchase. I can recall paying over $500 years ago when these DVD players first came to market. Now to pay something like $39 is just unbelievable. This player will do what you want it to do.

Is this laptop good for gaming?
Yes. In fact that's really what prompted me to get this computer. I had an issue with the Dell that I had purchased just prior to this computer. I had to reset the computer. Then I had to go through and reinstall my programs. I could not get Flight Simulator back on. I tired and tired. The Dell people kept telling me that there was something wrong with the CD's I was trying to use to install the game. No. I was totally frustrated and took the Dell back. I found this Asus with more memory and a larger hard drive. I bought it. The first thing I did was install the MS Flight Simulator. No problem. I installed it AND with the increased memory (12g) the game is better than ever. So yes, long story, but this is a great computer for gaming.
