My in-laws home is somewhat closed off in places and their router just wasn't cutting it, when it came to providing an entire half of the house with wireless. By adding this range extender, we were able to open up wireless for the whole house. Set up is flawless and the product works great!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Compatibility with Directv cinema connection kit

I have a wireless CCK that came with my directv subscription which allows my directv receiver to connect to the Internet and access a variety if on demand programming. Although I can get the CCK to connect to my network through the range extender, I can't seem to keep a connection. After a few minutes the connection drops and I have to restart the setup process. Does anyone have this same problem and suggestions on how to fix?
The extender isn't made for super high performance. Streaming a directv box would maximize the usage you could get from the extender, thus your dropped connection.

Will this work with my iPhone 5 acting as a hotspot/router?

We use an iPhone 5 (Verizon) as a hotspot for our wireless internet access since we live in a rural area. We get 3 bars of LTE with the phone sitting in our dining room (drops to 3G in other parts of the house) and our MacBooks find it if we are close but if we go to the back of the house they usually don't connect. We live in a small 1200 sq. ft. home but it is brick, has a tin roof and plaster walls. We just want to be able to connect to the iPhone with the Mac's and tablet anywhere in the house.
No. And if it could, it would be a miserable experience, as hotspot bandwidth is much more limited than typical home internet. Check out Verizon's more everything plan to share your data and allow all of your devices to act as hotspots.

Online gaming question.

I use this range extender to get better connection when I play games on my ps3 and xbox 360. connection is pretty fast, but about every hour or so, the connection will randomly drop. i can usually get connection back within a minute but it gets kind of annoying when it happens in the middle of a game. is there anything in the extender settings i can change so this problem won't happen so often?
Unfortunately, no. It may be due to wireless interference. Ensure the extender is in a closer position to grab a stronger signal from the main router.

Can I use more than one range extender on my system?

Yes, but each will have a different name. For example - The main router will be home and the extender will be Home_XT. And then beyond that, Home_XT2. It's not recommended to extend an extension though.
