Got this phone for my mother in law who wasn't exactly ready to make the full jump to a smart phone yet. She may have been better off going with something more new and intuitive though. The quality of the phone build is fair but not excellent by any means.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My battery was low so I shut off the phone but now it won't turn back on even though it is plugged in.

If the phone lost its entire charge before it was plugged in, it may have to charge for ten to fifteen minutes before it gets enough charge to turn back on. It's a feature that prevents memory corruption during startup.

can you get animated radar?

I try to get animated radar on accuweather but it doesn't animate. is the samsung brightside not capable of this?
You should be able to, however there are lots of factors that may prohibit the speed at which it loads. For example, internet connection speed and the speed of your phone's processor.

Just bought a Samsung Brightside and when I make a call ( as soon as I dial) the screen goes black.

How can I keep the screen on a Samsung Brightside from going black right after I dial a call. Can wake it up but then it goes dark again and again. Need to have it stay illuminated so you can interact with it if you're paying online bills etc.. thanks
You should be able to adjust the inactivity setting on your phone. Go into the settings tab and select the screen inactivity timer. It's a typical battery saving utility on all cell phones...

I dont know how to put on tv shows on it

Help how do you put tv shows on the phone using a computer?
You can transfer files with a usb cable, or transmit them via Bluetooth if your computer has it. Getting full episodes of a television show to fit on your phone however is not such a great idea. Unless you have a large capacity sd card or tons of internal phone memory. Instead of uploading files, you could install Netflix or another streaming video program on your phone and you won't have to mess with uploading tv to it.
