My friend had this set up while I was visiting, so had to get my own set up. I primarily use it for watching UTube videos, but have done some computer mirror imaging as well when friends are over. Have it hooked up directly to the receiver and works great. My TV is a smart TV as well, but this is 10X easier to use this way.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Creates your own world of sound.
What's not so great: Little cumbersome, not bad
When I was doing a little research prior to the purchase, not many people were reviewing this for gym use which is my primary use.. so I was a little worried about cord length since a lot of people had that comment. I am well over 6 feet tall and not a problem for me. Takes a little used to this style earphone if not used to it, but after two weeks its no problem. The sound quality is excellent and volume gets much louder than traditional earphones. Don't even need to max them out as I did with the old earphones. As far as noise reduction, it is excellent at blocking out white noise such as the engines from airplanes, but not so good at blocking out variable noises such as people talking.. so don't expect to just turn them "on" without music playing and not hear people talking or background music playing.. however with music playing through the headphones at a decent volume in noise reduction mode, it does a very good job of blocking out background sounds, including people talking. I do have sensitive hearing which is why I got these in the first place! Overall I am happy with them and probably a lot less obtrusive than the full headphone style which I didn't want.. but have not tried out. Also, try out the various size ear plugs, they come with three, even if they are different for each ear... that is the key to blocking out the noise!

A/V Receiver

Can this be used in one of the HDMI inputs of a A/V receiver?
Yes, you can plug directly into HDMI of reciever, so no need to run any additional wires to/from the tv. works great. That is, assuming your cable box is already running through your receiver and then to the tv.
