Although we have a "smart" TV with built-in internet access, it is very clumsy and slow to navigate using the remote, so I bought the Chromecast Player to stream content from a laptop. I was a little skeptical that this would work well for the price, but it was very easy to set up and worked great right out of the box. We regularly use to stream Comcast online content and it's been flawless so far.
I would recommend this to a friend!

How to output the sound when connecting chromcast to a monitor without built-in speaker?

I am trying to chromcast the content from laptop to my 27inch monitor, and the computer monitor doesn't have built-in speaker. I am not able to make the sound work. Is there any workaround?

I believe you would need to plug external speakers to the monitor as there does not appear to be a way to separate the playback of the sound from the streamed content. I occasionally play DVD content on a monitor with no speakers, but it does have a stereo headphone/speaker output.
