I bought this player on sale for a new Samsung 4K TV that I had also purchased. The player has as good of a picture quality as the Samsung UBD-K8500 true 4K blue ray player that I also bought a couple of weeks later. I can not really see a difference in picture quality between the two when playing e.g. the same Avatar 3-D movie. The selection for 4K blue ray movies is so limited I now wish I had just bought two of these models as it was $99.00 on sale vs. the $399 I paid for the 4K model. So far happy with the purchase.

I replaced my older Roku2 with the new Roku4 as a goal to be able to stream 4K programming. I have yet to purchase a 4K TV to see how it performs but so far it seems more stable than my old Roku2 with seemed to periodically hang for no reason. I'm hoping the functionality will justify the price but will need some time to verify if this was a worthwhile upgrade.

My wife wanted a protective cover for her Samsung Galaxy S6 phone and also wanted the S-view. In researching a lot of the aftermarket covers do not work correctly so we went with the Samsung OEM cover. Only complaint is that Samsung does not offer many colors that are readily available with the aftermarket cases. Our Best Buy store did not have much of a selection.

I have several backup drives but prefer the backup software that is packaged with the drive. Much better than Seagate's.
This drive is out of the box ready, simply plug it in a USB 3 port and the setup software completes the rest. I chose this drive size as I image the 1 TB hard drive and keep the copy on this backup drive and still have more than enough room to backup all critical files for years to come.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Originally I purchased a Roku3 but found out there was no audio output connectors so returned it and purchased the Roku2. Since I just had the Roku3 connected I immediately noticed how much slower the Roku2 responded to remote commands. This is by no means a deal breaker just an observation. I have also had several issues where the Roku2 seemed to freeze and quit responding to the remote control. The seemed somewhat random but a quick Google search let me know I was not the only user who has experienced this. Each time I had to power cycle the Roku box to clear the problem.
Overall I would say it is a good buy for the price and both the picture quality and audio quality are very good. If not for needing the audio outputs I would have most likely stayed with the Roku3 but so far I am happy with the Roku2

I was excited to purchase my first streaming device and decided on the new and improved Roku3. When I got it home and started hooking it up I was looking for the audio output connections and then said to myself "you gotta be kidding!". Since I'm hearing impaired I rely on a great set of Pioneer wireless headphones so that I can hear the audio portion of the programming. Without them it would be worthless to try to watch a show or movie. So now I have two options, one buy an audio converter to send the auto portion to my head phones base unit, ($50) or return the Roku3 and buy a Roku2 which is what I did.
I guess for those that can hear well the Roku3 is the ticket but for me it left me with no option but to return this new and improved model and purchase the older Roku2.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Since purchasing my first Neo XV-21 about a year and a half ago I have had 4 replacements due to one problem or another. Neto is very responsive as long as the factory warranty is in effect but after that you are on your own. I strongly suggest purchasing the 4 year extended warranty as this has saved my peace of mind several times.
The Neto does as it advertises and picks up more pet hair than you ever thought possible. As far as a robotic Vacuum it is so far ahead of the Romba that there is no comparison. Think of the Romba as a billiard ball on a pool table. We started out with one before the Neto and I cringed each time it bounced off my newly installed base boards. The Neto seems to have more intelligence and will follow e.g. base boards without bumping into them. Then it will sweep the area in a back and forth pattern before going on to new territory.
Overall we find it very useful and does and excellent job picking up more pet hair than we thought possible.
I would recommend this to a friend!

i owned a roku a few years ago, i had to return it there was no closed caption. do the newer have this capability?

closed caption is usually provided by the streaming service that you choose. Netflix seems to have closed captioning on most of the movies that I have watched. Both Roku2 and Roku3 will screen closed captioning if it is available. Some services such as Hulu have very few movies with closed captioning. Check before you subscribe.

Will this work if you don't subscribe to cable TV?

I purchased an LED (1080 by LG) for my mom but she doesn't subscribe to cable TV and I can't figure out how to get her local channels to come through on this new TV. Do I need to purchase an HDMI cable AND this box? Will having both of them fix the problem?!
I think the short term answer right now is no. You can not get local TV stations thru a Roku box. Please read the discussions in the link below for other options as there seems to be some solutions possible in the near future.
