What's great about it: Superb Video Resolution
What's not so great: Windows 8
First, I have to state that the picture quality on this laptop is simply superb. I have never experienced such clarity, detail, and color on a laptop. The 4th generation i7 processor is lighting fast, so editing videos, photos, etc is a pleasure. The laptop does not have touch screen (which i feel is only really usable on a tablet), but the touchpad is responsive and very easy to use.
If you want to play high end games, then this isn't for you. It comes with an Intel HD graphics card which just won't render those high end games fast enough. However, all the games from Fishgames, and Iwin, and those types will play flawlessly. The speakers are high end and very good for a laptop...loud, clear, and pleasant to listen to .... however external speakers are recommended for audiophiles, and those who want a punch while watching videos. The keyboard is high quality, backlit, very responsive, and easy to type on. I'm a touch typer and I can easily type 120 wpm on this. It also has a numeric keypad which is very handy. It comes standard with windows 8, but there is a free uprade to 8.1 once you register and set up your laptop. (Just go to the windows store, and on the left side you will see your upgrade.) Bestbuy also included 10 free programs with this purchase plus a year of webroot. The programs are FULL versions and worth aprox. 300 dollars if you had to purchase them. (outstanding) Unlike some others, I had NO problem setting up my printer and external hard drives. (probably because i upgraded to 8.1 before installing them.) One thing to note, windows 8 seems to have a problem with wifi. It will intermittently turn the wifi driver off, making you have to reboot the computer to reset it. I haven't had this issue with with laptop. One thing this laptop doesn't have is a status light showing when the Hard Drive is in use. I do miss that feature. Upgrading this laptop is a breeze. One screw on the bottom removes a cover and there is easy access to two empty ram slots (unit comes it 8 gb built in, and you can add 8 more to the empty slots. There is also a second bay where you can add a second Hard Drive or SSD Drive. All in all I'm very pleased with this laptop. I got in on sale for 699.00, and counting the free programs, this was a steal. The only two real drawbacks are the lack of a status light for the HD, and the mediocre Video Card. If you do a lot of video editing and rendering, or photo work, this laptop won't let you down .... it's fast. One last note ... I've read some complaints about battery life .... I get about 3 hrs ....but this really is considered a desktop replacement and should be plugged in at all times. I rarely run it on battery.

What's great about it: Long Battery Life, Comfortable to hold, reliable
What's not so great: No Bluetooth
This little gem is very much underrated. An audio recorder, radio, video player, ebook player, camera, calculator, and more for under 20 Bucks! Battery life is good and recharges quickly. The menu system is very easy to figure out and I've had no hangups, pauses, etc. I've read some complaints about volume. True, the speaker on this thing is worthless, but using good headphones the volume is more than adequate. I would limit the sd card to 16GB. Using cards larger than this will work but will make the unit sluggish. It's a great little player that won't break the bank if you lose it, break it, etc.

What's great about it: Great Sound, Works With BOTH Android & Apple
What's not so great: Difficult to tell when unit is on or on standby
Samsung has hit the mark with this blue-tooth speaker. It has a great retro look, very easy to pair, and it docks BOTH Apple produces AND Droid products. (will not dock the new apple 5 pin connection) The sound is quite good with very decent bass response. I think most people confuse Bass with Sub-woofer. They are two distinct things. This will play all bass lines with full rich sound, however, the sonic "feel" you get with a sub-woofer will not be present. So, people who listen to hip hop rap may be disappointed, and will probably be disappointed with any speaker system without an additional sub-woofer. Pairing this device with your product is quite simple. You do however have to re-connect your device each time you use the speaker. This may seem like a drawback or flaw, but it actually serves a purpose. I have several devices that may be in range of the speakers. I may want one device to play from the speakers and the other not to. If it automatically paired or connected each time a device was in range there would be a constant battle over which device pairs. This way, YOU need to choose by connecting the device each time. It's an easy process and makes sure only the device you want to hear from the speakers connects. It sounds complicated but really isn't, and it's far less complicated and frustrating than having more than one device trying to pair automatically at the same time.
Overall, this is a great speaker at a great price. The sound is rich and bold. It offers Blue-Tooth 3.0 which gives you the same fidelity as devices connected direct via aux input.
I did notice, that it's difficult to tell whether this unit is on or on standby. It will automatically shut down after 10 or 12 minutes of inactivity.
The remote has a good feel, and works flawlessly for me. If you find that all the features of the remote don't work on your device it's probably your device... different versions of Blue-Tooth offer different features, and early Blue-Tooth enabled phones (mono versions that supported just a hands free earpiece) probably won't pair with this unit. (or any stereo unit)
One test I use for all my speakers is playing Korn's Blind. If your speaker can play the first 50 seconds or so of this song at moderate volume without distorting and you can hear the bass line ... then you have a decent pair of speakers.

What's great about it: Size, Price, Sound, Build
What's not so great: Nothing
I think I've bought about every portable Bluetooth speaker available in the last two years. (I'm exaggerating of course, but I have bought a lot, at least ten) Bose came the closest, but it's so expensive I don't dare take it with me anywhere for fear of losing or dropping it. Jambox had a great size but distorted easily. Soundfreaq was just ok, but too big to haul around. Monster was cute and very clear but lacked the full fidelity I wanted. Extrememac was good but didn't play very loud and the battery was tempermental. Then I tried the JBL Flip. WOW! It's built like a tank, comes with a case, and sounds just great. No, it's no Bose, but then my Bose cost three times as much. The sound on this thing is incredible for it's size. You can't sit near it and crank it up all the way it's that loud, without distortion I may add. The Bass is not booming, but pleasing with just enough punch to compliment the treble. ...and the treble ...it's so clear, you'll hear lyrics to songs you never was able to understand before ..... or drum riffs .... it's just so pleasing to the ear. For 99 dollars you can't beat this little dynamo... it's half the price of the jambox, one third the price of the Bose. Buy it, try it, you can always return it if not pleased .... but trust me, you'll be keeping this one. Great job JBL.

what is a good inexpensive laptop for gaming

Depends what you call inexpensive. A good gaming laptop will have the latest generation i7 processor, a 7200 rpm Hard Drive . .. or SSD Drive. 16 gigs of ram, and a dedicated Video Card. You're talking between a thousand and twelve hundred minimum for those specs.

Can you plug in the iPod touch 5/iPhone 5 or do you have to connect it wirelessly?

I saw 2 ports on the back of the speaker one for the older ipod/iphone and a smaller one behind it. Can that smaller port be used for the newer models?
No, the smaller port is for Droids.
