Roku setup was easy and intuitive. I love being able to choose what I want to see without having to pay for hundreds of channels I never watch.

I had another keyboard that kept locking up or turning off. This one works perfectly every time. It is light and thin, yet sturdy, and when I don't need the keyboard, it's very easy to detach my iPad.

Does it have C.C. for hearing impaired
Yes! Even using an HDMI cable. You can turn them on in the Roku settings, but some of the applications need to have them turned on in their own settings.

Should I purchase an HDMI cable even though Roku 1 comes with the AV cable?

Will using the HDMI cable improve the streaming quality or not?
It depends on the age of your television and the quality of your internet signal. I have one of the last tube type and first HD TVs. The AV cables gave me pretty good reception. When I tried an HDMI cable, it was a little better, but not much. Then I upgraded to a faster internet connection, and wow! The picture is so much clearer and sharper.

Does Roku1 remote comes w headphone jack?

No. The remote is small and compact with a limited number of buttons that allow you to maneuver through screen menus.

Can a router be used for WiFi and Netflix, or we need to seperate gagdets.

We will get connected to WiFi through Xplornet and they tell us we will need a router. Since we have no clue what to get and we will want Net Flix eventually, do we need a specific router, or a router and a streaming player like Roku.
The router does just what the name implies: The internet connection goes into the router, and the router then sends the signal to other devices either by ethernet cables or wirelessly. If your router is connected to a computer, you can watch Netflix content on your computer. If you want to watch Netflix on your TV, and you have a newer TV, it may have either ethernet or WiFi connections built in. If you have an older TV, you will need a devise like Roku to get the internet signal to your TV.

connections

Do I need to connect it to a laptop or only plug into my older tv? Looks like it when I read the answers above!? Sorta confused??
The Roku I bought to use with my older TV has ports for AV (Audio/Video) connection (Yellow, Red & White) and HDMI, neither which which will connect to my laptop. I have my Roku connected to the TV with the HDMI cable. The internet connection comes from my wireless router that broadcasts to the Roku. That being said, there are also Roku Sticks which look like flash drives and plug directly into the USB port on your computer. That sound like what you may be looking for.
