I needed these unusual sized batteries for the powered stylus attachment to a tablet. Unfortunately, the batteries didn't actually work so I can't exactly recommend them.

Good adaptation

This isn't the best adaptation of Thomas Hardy's romantic novel. That honor belongs to a British TV adaptation from 1998 which featured the definitive Bathsheba Everdene in Paloma Baeza. But that version also had the advantage of being a miniseries and being able to preserve more of the source material than a feature length film could. But for my money this is better than the 1967 version starring Julie Christie, who wasn't really right for the lead. She was too modern, too sophisticated, too out of place in the world of Thomas Hardy. Carey Mulligan, on the other hand, is quite well cast--even if she manages to make the proud and frustrating Bathsheba a bit softer and more likable than the author likely intended. This is a satisfying filming of perhaps Thomas Hardy's least depressing novel. There's tragedy to be sure but there's also an almost Jane Austen like love story of two people who are clearly meant to be together, in spite of circumstances and bad choices that conspire to keep them apart. This being Thomas Hardy you actually don't know if the would be lovers will actually end up together in the end. Definitely worth watching if you like period romantic flicks like Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and Jane Austen, who is much lighter but still not as far removed as from Thomas Hardy's more overtly tragic novels.

Solid but could be better

This bigger cousin to the J3 doesn't suffer from that phone's lack of power--with an octacore processor everything runs smoothly and without the noticable lag you experience on the J3. You can listen to music and use the GPS at the same time with no problems. The battery life is pretty good compared with older Samsung phones and it charges quickly. There are a couple of areas where Samsung skimped unnecessarily, however. There is no ambient light sensor which doesn't bother some people, but for a two hundred dollar plus phone, it's a pretty basic feature to leave out. The whole build also feels cheaper than it needs to, with too much plastic and a non-gorilla glass screen. The speaker is also less than impressive, although it's adequate. Call quality seems to be good. The J7 also comes with the current version of Android, which gives a pretty smooth experience. All in all, this is a solid phone but for the money, Samsung could have done better. You are definitely paying a little bit of a premium for the Samsung name compared with the features and builds of other phones in the same price range. If I wasn't stuck with Virgin Mobile's poor selection of phones this would not be my choice, but given their selection and this price range, it's about as good as you can do.

This modem/router combo seems to be ok--as a modem. The router is terrible, offering weak wi-fi that barely fills a small room. I ended up purchasing a separate router and just using this unit as a cable modem.

I have mixed feelings about this television. It is unquestionably a big improvement over the 5 year old Insignia LCD that it replaced. That television developed a gray shadow in the middle of the picture that is apparently common with aging LCDs and something that cannot be repaired. But even when new the Insignia was completely unable to reproduce blacks on screen--a dark muddy gray was the best the television could manage. The contrast when watching black and white films was also very poor, making it impossible to make out details if the image displayed was meant to be dark.
The Vizio displays deep blacks which is a very nice change from what I previously had. On the other hand the colors out of the box are pretty terrible and there are a lot of settings to screw around with. I ended up going to web sites where specific optimal picture and color settings were listed for this model and found one I liked on the third try. The three different sets of settings that I tried all resulted in very different types of pictures so with this television it is very important to find the right settings that will provide a picture that you will be happy with.
The full array feature is normally only available on much more expensive televisions and sounds cool when you read the specs on the Vizio web site. The problem is that there are only 6 active LED zones which makes for too large areas of the screen that are effected by local dimming. If you use the full array feature you will frequently see boxy areas or lines on the screen that are too light or dark as the television screen adjusts to changes in the picture--it happens quickly but still is extremely noticeable. If you turn off local dimming this problem goes away but the picture quality is less dynamic when displaying contrast between dark and light so whether to leave this feature on or not will likely depend on how much seeing the lag when the active LED zones adjust bothers you. But there is no question that 6 active LED zones for a 48" screen is too few to provide a picture with seamless local dimming.
One other issue is that I live in a small apartment and my television is in a bright living room--this Vizeo LED has a significantly more reflective screen than my old LCD did although I haven't experienced any situations when this was a serious distraction while watching movies during the day.
Overall I would say that the Vizio has a nice picture if you take the trouble to adjust the settings but it can't be compared to a premium television because of their cheap approach to the normally premium full-array feature. I have never used the smart TV functions since I have a Roku box hooked up so I cannot comment on that feature. I also do not use the built in speakers since I have my television hooked up to a surround sound receiver so I cannot comment on those. One area which is a bit annoying is that the remote control sensor on the television seems to be very narrow--I use a Logitech universal remote and more often than not when I hit the power button everything I want will come on except for the television--I frequently have to hit the power button a second time and reposition the angle of the remote to get the television to come on. It's a minor frustration but still worth mentioning.
Ultimately I would say if you can afford a Samsung or Sony at the same screen size then those brands would definitely be worth the extra bucks but if you are on a tight budget like me then the Vizio probably provides the best quality in its price range.

Can I use this phone with Cricket?
No, it's made for Virgin Mobile and AT&T is turning Cricket into a GSM carrier. Virgin Mobile is a CDMA carrier.

This phone says it is a prepaid cell phone. Does that mean it won't work with the monthly unlimited plans from Virgin Mobile?
It works with any of the higher end Virgin Mobile plans, including unlimited data.

Does this phone have a blue indicator light when you get calls or messages
No--that's one of the things Samsung left out of this phone.

is this phone unlocked?
This phone is made for the Virgin Mobile network. It is actually compatible with any carrier on the Sprint network, but they would need to activate it for their network. Virgin Mobile will not activate any unlocked phones. Period. I can't speak for other CDMA carriers that use the Sprint network. You would need to check with your carrier.

Someone asked whether this phone was compatible with metro pcs and the answer provided by the "community" was apparently yes. Is this true? I'm actually upset that the specs on this particular model is better then the unlocked model. Huge bummer..
Metro PCS is moving away from CDMA phones to GSM style since they are now using T-Mobile's network. Even if you have a Metro PC sim card for the GSM network it will not work with the Virgin Mobile variant of this phone, which was made for a CDMA network.

Does this phone come with a VM sim card?
VM sells the single sim variant that includes a sim card for LTE service. However, actual phone service is still CDMA. You cannot use any unlocked phone with Virgin Mobile even if it's a CDMA model because they won't activate it.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO PLUG INTO THE BACK OF MY COMPUTER TO CONNECT BY WIRELESS TO THIS ROUTER?
You would need a USB Wireless Network Adaptor if you want to connect a computer wirelessly that doesn't have ethernet capability built in.
