can I skype on this computer and what is the return policy as this will be a gift?

Currently right now, no you cannot use skype on the computer. You can't install 3rd party software.

What's the difference between the 16GB drive this has and a 320GB hard drive the Aspire has? Does it really have that much less memory?

The difference is one is 16GB and the other is 320GB. One is SSD while the other is is a laptop HD. Btw, 2 different products.
